Showcase might be the wrong term for him. Proof that he's not hampered by the slew of injuries he had last year might be better. Because guys like him do fall off a cliff at some point in their 30s and injuries can hasten that decline.

I think their hope is the following:
- Acciari shows he's healthy and durable enough to still be of some value to a contender's bottom six.
- Beauvillier has enough offensive pop to be a bottom six option for a contender lacking some scoring down the lineup.
- Someone needs a 13th forward and is willing to take a flyer on Nieto. Similar to Ruhwedel last year.

I think it's highly unlikely Hayes has any positive value, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him scratched when Glass is healthy.

I think Graves has negative value. And I think they're going to keep playing Grzelcyk in the hopes that someone gets desperate at the deadline, but more than likely he will continue to have negative value and will be stuck here until his contract expires in the spring.

The youth movement we all want will likely come in February/March if the Pens can move some of these players out.
Both Acciari and Nieto 100% clear waivers right now. Acciari becuase he still has a year left on his deal and Nieto because he sucks. I’d say it’s 50/50 if Beau would.

They are playing because Mike Sullivan is a moron and Dubas isn’t any smarter.

Pulju probably has more value than Acciari and Hayes and he's a UFA. So why would he re-sign here.
We value Pulju more.

I don't know if GMs do. He's gotten a reputation for not being the brightest player. That was a criticism of him in Edmonton along with the eventual injuries.

Nieto 100% does.

I don't know if Acciari does. Maybe because of his contract. But there are a lot of old school GMs out there.

There were 6 or 7 teams that strongly coveted Jiricek the last few weeks, including the Predators, whom the #mnwild play tonight. I do believe at least one team offered 2 first-rounders.

You said in a post like 15 minutes before that the Penguins aren’t in a position to be paying those kind of assets for Jiricek
He also thinks Dubas should have been able to get the Sharks 1st OV pick for rental Guentzel. You're not talking to someone playing with a full deck.

If we have an extra 1st we are.

The issue is Dubas has very few pieces that can return those.

Yeah no reason we shouldn’t have got Celebrini for Jake.

Yea, that's kinda nuts to me.

I get it if you have the pieces I guess and are really high on the player, but I wouldn't do that.

Onto the next young struggling high draft pick. Byfield?? Rob Blake is a noted idiot.

Turcott, kakko, dach, hoglander, zegras

I don't know why, I can just see dubas trying to pick up zegras if he can clear the cap space .

But he should look towards Buffalo for poltapov whose playing in Russia right now. He seems to be a bit forgotten about in the buffalo system with the glut of prospects they have, hes an all or nothing prospect but he has the potential to be a real good second liner if everything works out.

If we are targeting players in Buffalo. I'd try to pry out Jack Quinn.

I feel like Buffalo will trade either Quinn or Benson over the next 6 months if it gets them back a consistent top six winger or a solid top 4 defensive responsible defender to pair with dahlin or power given sameulssons struggles/injuries.

Buffalo could really benefit from adding both rust and Petts.

If this team were really serious about a retool with youth, buffalo is who I'd target and I'd be offering up a re-signed Petts and rust for a young package that starts with Quinn or Benson with other assets.

I don't think there is a chance in hell they trade Benson. I'd pay a lot for him.

I think Zegras is kinda a bum tbh.

I do to, which is why I could see dubas trying to grab him. Big contract, under performing, but still young. The ducks should be willing to trade him realistically cheap given his past two seasons and dubas is going to look at him like that hot drunk red head at the party who just got done breaking the glass coffee table and whisper to himself "I can fix her"

 I dunno about all that. I think even Dubas would realize Sullivan would get one practice with Zegras before trying to beat him unconscious with a chair.

Volume XX title of this thread had better be "I can fix her"

Our prospect pool doesn't look all that bad now. And we're loaded in goal! We need to draft and develop CENTERS! That's an organizational shortcoming. Overall, much better under Kyle. A good number of 1st, 2hd and 3rd rounders over the next few drafts also.

I've been overthinking the Puljujarvi lineup scratches, Sullivan saw this

🔞

And Jesse sits.... every now and again Sullivan will take another route to his office or the dressing room and Jesse plays.... but then he goes the old familiar route... 🔞 and Jesse sits again.

I still think Acciari can help a team come playoff time, NIeto is just useless I agree. Beau can definitely be moved for at best a 3rd, but expecting more a 4th or 5th
