Dach is just a body with his injury. He has struggled after showing promise 2 years ago. But for the right price yes I take him. Glass can play RW. But no to Hoglander as I want better assets back from the Petts deal. I like Tomasino deal as he has a pedigree and has scoring ability. Dubas wants younger talent to fit the new rebuild and all these steps are meant to have a number of players finding their roles as they play.

Graves, Poulin, 3rd for Anderson, Dach

Pettersson for Hoglander, 2nd

Blomqvist, 2nd (+?) for Jiricek

Rakell-Crosby-Rust
Hoglander-Malkin-Tomasino
DOC-Dach-Anderson (Thicc)
Bunting-Lizotte-Acciari
Hayes

Pickering-Karlsson
Grzelyck-Letang
Shea-Jiricek

I have no idea if the cap works just shooting the shit
The first one is 8.862M in, 4.5M out. Even with our 2M of space now, we can't do it without other moves.
Anderson's practically a lock to underperform his AAV by a few mil until the deal ends. It'd be an anchor deal that we can't flip for anything.
Dach's deal can go well, average or poorly. Kind of a dice roll at his age, especially since he just had a strong year last year.

The second one is the most realistic, but I'm not a fan of it either. Hoglander's gonna be a net negative contract beyond this year imo. So if all we're getting is that and a 2nd for Petts, I'd be disappointed. He's gonna be one of the most desired pieces at this deadline. Gotta get a 1st if possible. We have so little of quality to give away.

Firmly against Blom for Jiricek straight up, let alone us adding a 2nd. Think he'll become a quality starter. Early signs very encouraging.

eliteprospects lists him as w/c. 🤷‍♂️ Koivunen that is.
No clue where he played overseas.

Koivunen is a LW or RW, but yeah just put Broz in his spot and I think it’s fine. Broz is looking great as a future 3C in WBS right now.

I’m honestly not sure what to think of Ponomarev. He hasn’t been impressive statistically and I haven’t been overly excited by him in the bit I’ve watched of him. Not super worried but I’m viewing Broz as the 3C and Ponomarev as the 4C going forward right now.

This is my thinking too, and maybe I haven't expressed it properly, Hoglander in a vacuum is a fine acquisition... Hoglander and a 2nd for Petersson is a miss in my books. I want to see a 1st rounder back for Petersson, even if we have to retain a bit. I don't think we have too much of an opportunity to gain 1st round pick with the players we have on this roster, and we should be doing whatever we can to do so. If Vancouver would take a 3rd and a midling prospect for Hoglander, excellent, do immediately and throw out any one of the 4th line, place Hoglander with Crosby or Malkin, whatever I don't care. Just don't make Hoglander the main piece that comes back in a Petersson trade.

If Vancouver would do a Petersson retained + a 3rd, a mid Prospect (Poulin, Pono whatever) for a 1st, and Hoglander I'd be ok with that.

I agree with this, this is what I was advocating for last night as well. Throw them Nieto and one of their 3 3rds for Hoglander now and just worry about the Pettersson rental trade later.

Yeah, exactly... I was trying to figure out why I couldn't express this properly last night lol

I'm starting to get pissed off lol, I just want to see Puljujarvi in the lineup FFS, I did not expect to enjoy the 12 minutes a game he plays as much as I do.

I'm even considering a Fanatics Puljujarvi jersey lol

Damn, expected though. Pens don't have the pieces to compete with Minnesota.

Edit: Or.. I guess they did and Columbus didn't want to trade him in division lol.

Package is way more than we should be spending.
It seems like a bad deal for Columbus to me. A mid/late first and a mediocre prospect. I'd be pretty bummed if the Pens dealt a 6OA for that package.

That said, yeah the Pens couldn't really beat that if Columbus was insistent on getting a first round pick back. We can't deal ours.

I'd take extra 2nd rounders over Min's 1st this year which will just be over 20th overall anyway.

I dunno. Getting a 1st and a 2nd for a player that wanted out is good enough.

I guess. And Jiricek hasn't really shown anything yet so that probably was as good as they were going to manage. I'd still be disappointed even knowing that. A 6th overall turning into a package of worse futures....sounds like something Dubas would do a few years from now.

The Dubas depth approach?

This is why you get 1st rounders tho instead of prospects / Michael Bunting for Jake.

If you have that extra 1st last year or this year you have the ability to move it in this type of trade.

Ngl this makes me think Pickering actually was the guy being offered if thats the kind of player Columbus wanted.

Honestly that about matches what I expected the deal to be. I was thinking a 1st from Vancouver, 3rd and Murashov and that’s pretty damn close.

Not upset they didn’t do it but I wouldn’t have minded the trade had they done it.

So you’re saying this was too much for the Penguins to give up while criticizing Dubas for not getting a 1st to make this kind of move? What?
