Indeed. I can't imagine anyone in the Pittsburgh media would try degrading Malkin though - except Madden.

No one is going to disagree that Sullivan is about 95% of the issue.

Fact is though, Granlund was still a bad trade. He wasn't a true need and Hextall way overpaid. The difference though is how you choose to frame the discussion. According to YOU:

Trade for Granlund and he stinks: Oh, that's clearly not Hextall's fault. It's Sullivan's fault. Look at his stats now!
Trade for Karlsson and he stinks: Oh, it's clearly Dubas's fault. His stats in SJ be damned, it's all Dubas's fault. How could he have done this!?

You rarely argue in good faith which is why so many people have issues with you so often.

My opinion of the Granlund trade was it made no sense and was a fireable offense.

My opinion of the Karlsson trade was it was fine.

The issue with Dubas trading for EK65 will always be what he did after. Which was absolutely nothing. You don't move a 1st that has protections and then just let your team tumble down the standings.

You do everything in your power (including firing your coaches) to make the 1st as low as possible.

Okay, so that's actually a fair and balance response.

I will, and I can't believe I'm saying this, agree that Dubas sitting on his hands through much of the season watching us struggle had just as much impact as Sullivan.

Dubas has to know he’s done an awful job here, and the only thing standing between him getting criticized is Sully. Drag it out longer, fire him later in the season and find his guy next summer.

Both idiots are frauds and need to go.

Hasse saying that Dubas has let the league know that everyone but Sid is available.

That's nice and all but that doesn't do much when half the roster has a NMC or NTC. Also just ignores the rotten and moldy problem on the team
Also that's not the right course of action if Sullivan is still there.

Granlund going through a difficult divorce when the Pens got him was just awful timing. Sullivan used him like shit too but that one has a little more going on.

Honestly I don't even have the fight left in me anymore with this shit. They would rather trade everyone again than fire Sullivan.

I've had about enough.

It's funny to me to say that everyone but #87 is available but only if you give us pieces that can help the roster now.

Who the f is lining up to give us someone that can help our roster now for 37 year old Kris Letang, for example? It's not happening.

You wanna help the roster now, Dubas? Fire f***ing Sullivan. See if that helps. if it doesn't, you're no worse off than if you kept him. And if it does, hey, that makes your job easier because now you don't have to figure out how to move a bunch of old ass players with NMCs.

Then again, new coach comes in and we somehow string together 3-5 games and we're suddenly buyers who think the WC2 spot gives us a shot at competing.
I'd trade a 1st to not have to look at Sullivan's face ever again.

But in all seriousness, I know it's not a popular opinion around here, but I'm fine spending non-premium assets to give Sid and Geno another taste of the playoffs....as long as it's not with Sullivan. I need to at least be able to talk myself into thinking they can win a round and I'm past that point with Sullivan.

Honestly it seems like at least AS bad of a decision as allowing Sullivan to actually be a player development coach in a rebuild. Probably even a BETTER idea. I completely understand wanting to "build futures" but WTF are we gonna actually DO with them? And that isn't even taking into consideration the dismal percentages involved when it comes to these picks even panning out to NHL players much less difference makers.

As long as it's not a true top pick or somehow a bluechip prospect this team stumbled into... who cares. People are really overselling the value of late firsts and beyond lately IMO.

Anaheim amassed 4 extra first rounders since they missed the PO starting in 2019.
2019 - Tracey, traded. 2020 - Perreault - gone, now with Habs org. 2022 Gaucher - in AHL. 2024 - traded up for Solberg.

Chicago added 5 extra firsts, moving DeCat for Korchinski, moved off Dach for Nazar. Dealt Hagel for Moore and Boisvert. Still a pending one from Tor in 2025.

SJ sent EK for Dickinson, sent Meier for former 1st Muk and Musty, sent Hertl for Edstrom and what should amount to Askarov as they flipped the LV pick to Nash. SJ also traded down in 2022 trade with AZ from 11 into the late 20's to get 2 extra seconds. See if any of those kids are better than what was sitting there at 11 for them.

late firsts from 20 onwards, are no sure thing. Plus going to take about 3 years from them to arrive.

Exactly. And these 2nd and 3rd round picks that Penguins fans are suddenly so jazzed about are even worse.

I know this isn't fair but I'm so frustrated and disgusted that I don't really care -- this idea to just "soft rebuild" and take on poor players with even poorer contracts for the sake of nothing picks feels like an excuse to just kick back and do nothing. Burn a few more hundos lighting up cigars, Kyle.

We all knew Dubas' job was gonna be difficult thanks to the mess left prior to him getting here. I completely acknowledge that. But WTF does this guy even do besides make himself GM and steal a fat paycheck?

I don't know what the panic is, trade who? for what?

Petersson for Picks? ok, that's going to happen anyways closer to the deadline

Eller for what? Picks? ok cool same thing

Letang? for what? what is substantially coming back from a trade that includes Letang that helps this roster right now?

Doc gets us a player of equal value or a prospect or a pick

Rust doesn't get us a player back who in any way moves the needle forward from what he gives us.

You trade Malkin and he retires immediately and goes home to play in Russia, he's not going anywhere, he doesn't want to go anywhere.

We are full of Sully styled players on lines 3 and 4 who will garner late draft picks at best

This teams does NOT have any assets that can make this team better immediately in a trade. Even the prospects added will move the needle forward in such a meaningless way it could only hurt our draft placing as the best case scenario.... there is no playoffs here, there is no winning a round here.

The only enjoyment we have is accepting the tank, as unintentional as it is being played out in the media, and getting on with the draft.

Sully is a weasel who went over Hextalls head for his contract and he's not opposed to doing whatever he has to in getting his way with everything. We know this, we can't comprehend this, but it is there. This team will only start to get better with a coaching staff change first, the tank second, and doing the best to ride Sid and Geno off into the sunset.

Enjoy the ride while we still have Geno and Sid... it's ugly, and it's at least entertaining.

The team is punting on the last handful of productive Sid/Geno years for the sake of some shitty draft picks and Mike Sullivan.

What a choice.
I hate it but the only silver lining there is if they insist on keeping Mike Sullivan then we might actually end up with a lottery pick this year lol.

Or maybe Sully manages to coach this team into a 14th overall pick again. That would probably be the worst scenario.

Don't really get the hatred of acquiring cap dumps for picks. Again, this team is not going anywhere. The fact that those players can then be potentially flipped for other picks is also a good thing.

I don't know if there were players in free agency that would have made this team better.

I think we all know the coach has been a big culprit for this.

Cody Glass is one of those "cap dumps" and is still young enough and played well enough in a minimal role. Its not really the GMs fault the coach doesn't elevate his role.

Hayes scored at a good clip and has provided offense that has been missing from the fourth line. I can't imagine him being less productive on the 4th line than how awful it was last year. I also wouldn't be surprised if the Penguins got something for him.

The GM made a good signing for Pool Party. The coach refuses to play him.

The GM traded for a prospect who looked closer to an NHL role and he was sent down after 3 games.

The GM made a good signing of Eller, which was heavily panned at the time. Looks like he might get a decent return. I guess he was too much of a veteran to take out of the lineup.

Dubas has mostly sucked here, especially in his first year. I also feel like any sort of intent has been absolutely shit on by Sullivan.

I can't imagine Dubas signed Jansen Harkins for AHL depth anticipating Sullivan would play him 40 games and have him score 0 goals.

If everyone is convinced that Crosby needed a promise to stay in Pittsburgh to stay competitive, I hate to tell you this. Crosby knows this team sucks. He was never going to leave.

I can understand the desire to sell tickets. Keep in mind though, ownership sees how you people slob knob over Smiles coming into town once a year. They realize "the core" cash cow will never stop. Your Yinzer Frenzies play a big role in this purgatory.

Are you kidding me?

One of the only guys on the roster who has shown life, who can easily be moved at the deadline and we move him for a 2027 3rd in division. Oh LORD , the comments are going to be golden.
I was gonna say!

You try and look like you have a heart beat!? YOU'RE OUTTA HERE!!!

Ugh. Not what I wanted.

Which implies Malkin is and really, Crosby has been such a shitty player this season why would you f***ing act like a 37yr old that's been shit is untouchable? What a f***ing dumb statement by Dubas because FSG thinks keeping Sid is enough to not piss off fans.
