Agree with this.

Why would someone give up significant assets only to find out that Jake can't play rest of reason/playoffs, and then gets lost on a UFA.

Pens not in a position of strength here. I suspect they will resign him, as even during a rebuild, they want to fill the seats.
There's nothing that indicates he won't be able to play come playoff time. This isn't a broken leg or knee surgery or something where the recovery time and post-recovery play is questionable.

Teams have seen enough of Guentzel. This is a long-term, high-performing first-line left wing. Teams looking to add him don't need an extra 2-3 games to scout him. They can watch as much film on him as they want.

The position of strength hasn't changed one bit. If a team wants him, they will pay the price Dubas wants. End of story. This isn't a Taylor Hall or Thomas Vanek situation where they have to dump him by the TDL and are forced to take a meager return. Worst case, they don't and they resign him.

Every team in the gutter has a Guentzel-level player. Resigning him to a $9mil x 7yr isn't going to impact our rebuild when it comes and it would keep Sid happy.

My concern now is more about getting a 1st that compensates for losing 24/25 to SJS from the EK trade. They are 24th in the league which means it could likely be the 25 1st they lose. If that's the case, I try to make a deal with Edmonton - Smith+Neds for Foegele+1st. Even if it's a late first, it's better than nothing.

Pens have to make hay while they can but clearly this is not happening now. Jake being moved for a really good package is a loser in that sense. But Dubas has to be real here. Pens need to begin the process of the transition now. Finishing in the top 10 gives the Pens a good prospect that looks to be of help in a couple. Add in the pick from Jake and prospect and start the retooling.

next year yes, this year no.

this year has to be the beginning of the change. Jake for the right package makes sense. Jake is an asset now not next year. Next year signing him to a long term contract loses the leverage that may exist now. Even the caveat that the Pens may be in some mathematical hunt for a playoff, it is unlikely they actually make it.

I don't really have an issue with claims like that. If there's even a 1% chance you get a Marty St. Louis, for free, you take it.

Of course it won't work and everyone will point to what an utter failure of an acquisition it was.

Dubas gets off to Sullivan getting off to undersized useless players that he can glue into the lineup

You naive son of a bitch
Wb short on forwards. If he claims this crappy forward, he can send another crappy forward back to wb. D. Uh.

WBS has Poulin injured and Gruden, Hinostroza and Puustinen in PIT, Phillips allows one of those 3 to go back to WBS for help down there. I'm guessing this is part of the reason.

So long Vinny, once again you get Sullivan'd.

Supposedly after every practice he treats himself to a couple hot dogs. Don’t get a body like that with just diet and exercise.
A true inspiration for the youth of America, if you too are a fat disgusting slob who bathes in a tub full of gravy, you to can grow up to be an elite scorer and 2 time Stanley Cup Champion.
