I don't that's likely. By the time those 2 are ready, the window will be closed.

Agreed. With that being said, sell the farm. Just keep selling the farm until the 4 big guys are gone. Zero reason for prospects at this point, even though I think the last 17 years have proven, you very rarely get anywhere going "all in" and selling your prospects and picks.

If we are ever lucky enough to land a talent like Sid or Geno again, I'd be pretty steadily against trading picks and prospects, and that's a pretty big change from my beliefs years ago. I just don't think the team gets enough out of it.

Letang - Graves...

We all know Letang is never going to change, that's just the way it is. Graves needs to remember who is the premier OD between them, and take a step back if Letang has the opportunity to go, even if he has a step on him.

Otherwise...
We need Graves to corner the 3rd pairing and trade away POJ for a Defensive D for Letang.

Another option (as some have suggested) is to swap Petts and Graves. EK makes less mistakes than Letang, so it may work out better overall.

It has only been 3 games, so I'll wait until mid-season before I overthink this :D.

EDIT..
Malkin>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Trocheck

I can't stress that enough!

Trocheck performed worse than Malkin on a much better hockey team last year. And Malkin is killing it so far this year.

There's exactly one reason to prefer Trocheck to Malkin - age. And until Malkin's play falls off a cliff that argument doesn't appear to be winning for Trocheck.
Well that, or 1) you’re a xenophobe blubberhead who has always tried to run Malkin out of town, or 2) a STH…

I cant even understand the thought behind picking Trocheck over Geno. Even 37 year old Malkin is miles ahead of Trocheck
Trocheck is so great he got demoted over Chytil and is now the Rangers third line center lol

Just a little over a year ago 50% of this board was on board with it.

Sad

And BTW Trocheck was offered a contract here and it wasn't at the expense of Geno but he didnt want to play 3C and he had a good relationship with Gallant.

That didn't work out that well

Yup.

I dunno about 50% but there were an uncomfortable amount of people who wanted to dump Malkin for more or less whatever was available. Then told us what a shrewd and cagey GM Ron "What Year Is It?!?" Hextall was for tripping all over himself to sign Carter, Rust and Letang with zero issues or hesitation to whatever they wanted but take a future HOFer to the brink over like a million bucks or one year or whatever it was.

Trading picks and prospects doesn't work, so....let's trade our picks and prospects....?

Wait until later in the season and these guys are beat down and people start to ramp up again. Early in the season shouldn't be any markers for anyone.

Interesting name from the main boards to add to the bottom-6 is Taylor Raddysh. I already talked about him in a potential POJ deal, but it seems like Hawks fans would actually prefer picks or prospects instead of POJ. I'd be really interested in doing that kind of deal, I'd much rather trade a 2nd for a 25 year old, cost controlled 3rd liner over a 2nd for a rental.

I think that's the deal Dubas should be trying to make, maybe not recreating the Hagel deal but something like that. If they're spending top assets, get someone young on a steal of a contract to help out the 3rd line.

We are at a totally different time now than years ago. Now the picks and prospects are useless - our stars will be gone by time they are ready. If you read my post, I very clearly said, "if we land a talent like Crosby or Malkin again..."

I might be misremembering, but I think there detail that is missing is that people didn't want Trocheck OVER Malkin.

It was "if Geno doesn't resign here, here is a viable option"
