What exactly has Ryan Shea done that makes them worried he’d get claimed on waivers? I’m not knocking the guy, but I can think of about a dozen other players who cleared who would be more attractive.
It's a bit strange. The only thing I can come up with is that they don't want to burn the 30 days in the NHL limit for guys that have already cleared waivers when they know they will just be in the press box. If they reach that 30 days, then they have to re-clear waivers to be sent down again.

So the plan could be to keep these guys in the AHL until the forwards start to get banged up a bit and there's a question if a guy's going to be able to play or not, bring one of Z/White/Hino/etc. up for up to 29 days/8 NHL games, send them down, and bring one of the others up. Ensures they will all be in the organization in case they are needed at some point.

Look Carter is here only due to the contract. Even Dejan noted Dubas will not watch him be this bad. I do think he will be out and will be part of a trade back to the LA Kings at the TDL. Have to live with that cap hit this year until Dubas can find a way to unload him and move whatever comes back in that deal to a third team.

There’s no way LA is taking him back. They have aspirations of being a good team and already have cap issues and need to find a way to add a real goalie.

Carter has all the power. If he doesn’t want to go anywhere, he’s not going anywhere. If he was willing to go anywhere, he’d be in SJ right now finishing up his career in the California sun.

Dubas isn’t going to tell Sullivan to sit him, either.

Carter just bought a house in Pittsburgh…he’s not going lol

From Dejan:

• Colin White earned a contract as a training-camp tryout, then was demoted to Wilkes-Barre. But he won over Mike Sullivan in a way that not many do right away, and he'll be the first summoned if the defensive issues persist. Truth be told, he should be here now ahead of Jeff Carter.

• The tolerance from Kyle Dubas for bottom-six guys performing as passively as Carter does won't be what it was for the previous GM. Watch and see.

Tbh I thought Carter played real well in game 1. The cap hit sucks but if he’s skating that hard every game it is what it is.

Dejan: Trust me bro.

What's Dubas gonna do? Jeff Carter has f***ing immunity because Hextall is the dumbest mother f***er. Unless Carter gets injured, decides to waive, or Sullivan perma-scratches him, he'll be around.

Almost time for y'all to stop complaining after the W tonight and some of you to go back to your holes to hide until the next loss.

I thought some of y'all would get carpel tunnel by now but you are much stronger than I thought.

Carry on

He probably would skate that hard if he only played in 2/3rds of the games. But that will never happen so maybe take him off the PK to ease his minutes even more?

Yeah I agree. I don’t understand the view of him as this shutdown guy.

Let the 400 goal guy be the offensive piece of your 4th line. No reason for him to kill penalties and play at the end of games with a lead in 5 on 6 situations.

Hopefully that becomes Eller/Acciari’s job. I’m skeptical though.

Meanwhile, there's this guy out there who's got more skill than all six bodies in the bottom six.

Rymes with Fill Vessel.

Probably could get him very cheap from what I understand.

Nah, facts be he's the best free agent out there who's healthy. It's beyond worrying about nostalgia.

I think it's a little weird that you've gone on record many times bemoaning Malkin's defensive deficiencies but desperately want Kessel on the team.

Besides... you know who the coach still is. Non-starter.

True and Malkin is still a net negative player all these years later. But he's Geno.

I'd start by firing Reirden and go from there as far as coaches go. Go and get the Kessel whisperer.

And plain truth, it can't get any worse than it is already.

It's definitely not nostalgia to want a guy who is arguably the worst forward, defensively speaking, in the league who has also lost just about all offensive ability due to age. Yeah, Phil's garbage.
