I would say it's only Vancouver and Carolina.

I'd be perfectly comfortable heading into the playoffs with the LW depth on the other teams.

Florida is my wagon this year. I love Tkachuk and love what that team has done with it's roster.

....but imagine Reinhart and Guentzel flanking one another. Good lord.

I can imagine it.

I just guess my question is why is Florida playing premium assets for it.

Just wait out the clock and stick to your original offer or stick with what you have.

Man, wake up and see eight pages of nothing going on here…all I can repeat to myself is “it doesn’t matter as long as Sullivan is still here”
If there's no "Confirmed with Link" post, you know nothing's happened. /shrug

What would it take, at this point, to make FSG cut him loose?
Probably another coach being available that Dubas and/or FSG was interested in. Which likely means another lame ass recycled name with a dull, boring approach.

Their top 9 is disgusting. Reminds me of us in 2016 tbh. Unless something goes catastrophically wrong - they're going to be a buzz saw not seen since our 2016 run. Whole bunch of paper tigers and a team that has legitimate top line scoring on lines 1-3:

RW: Tkachuk, Reinhart, Tarasenko
LW: Verhaeghe, (Guentzel?), Cousins, ERod

That top 9 is stupid.

Made a poll at the beginning of the year - let's see:

1st Place: "Sullivan can't be fired and will remain the coach for the remainder of his contract" with 41% of the vote
2nd Place: "DUI / Domestic Abuse / Other major off-ice incident" with 23%
3rd Place: "11-15 game skid (2023)" with 15%

... So yeah, not happening - unless Keefe becomes available imo.

2.5 more years behind the bench. He's got 3 years and 16 million more on his deal. FSG isn't going to pay him 16 sheets to sit at home just so they can go pay someone else 3 sheets a year to finish on 10th place.

Honestly why not add Jake and push Verhaeghe to the third line.

Jake - Bennett - Tkachuk is a match made in heaven.

Finisher/Jake - Kunitz as a C - pinnacle Hornqvist - probably the most perfect playoff line ever created if we debate it.

Always forget pixies is in HR until it comes up and it always makes so much sense.

people love me.

Verhaeghe is a better finisher than Jake.

If the ticket sales, not just what we saw against Columbus, but the actual tickets sold, drop significantly.

I meant to ask the board this:

I started watching about only 1 out of every 4 games starting just before Thanksgiving - and never really paid much attention to the crowds. Was Columbus an off-night or is that the new norm at PPG? I would have thought Yinzers loved Sully. My family up there literally still text me things like "Great win! Still in it!"....so yeah, are the faithful finally becoming self aware?

I think the issue with Florida is more the assets to give up for Guentzel. They have Samoskevich as a really attractive main piece and Devine is lighting it up in college, but their pool is pretty limited beyond that. They'd be more of a target for Smith than Guentzel IMO. If they can send Smith to Florida for Sawchyn, I'd be happy with that. If they get Sawchyn as a prospect in the Guentzel trade, I'd be a bit underwhelmed with it.

NYR and Carolina are clearly the most logical teams here, and with them being likely playoff opponents this year, I think there is an extra sense of urgency to get Guentzel so the other team doesn't get Guentzel.
