Players have been removed from games midway through because of trades. It's only recently that some have been sat for trade purposes. It's not out of the question that there are guys playing tonight who will be on the move in a few hours.

Why?

Carolina was already scratching Bunting for this trade. If Necas was involved, he would be the premier piece coming back for the Pens - so why would they have him in the game? If the Pens aren't concerned about potential injuries, why scratch Bunting?

This feels like people getting their hopes up for no good reason.

That’s a good point…….but could also be harkins who couldn’t be scratched but is key piece to deal. Dubas felt he owed it to sully for one last hurrah

Bunting has 3 years left on his deal. No way he was included just for cap. Dubas wanted him and it will reflect on the rest of the deal.

Both teams also need enough players to ice a line-up. There's no time to call up replacements before the game. They also both, despite what some posters may think, do actually want to win both their games tonight.

How does that change after the games?

They can officially send down a few players after the game is over to get under the roster and cap limits, whereas they need players for a full roster during the game.

I mean, I would love to be wrong here, but I do not believe that Necas is part of the return.
