This is stupid. Trading Guentzel was 100% the correct decision with the direction this franchise is going in.
Giving up the second best player was the best for a team trying to compete? Because that’s what we’re doing? We’re not rebuilding.

I don’t understand why people think we’re rebuilding. Dubas thinks we got better with this trade.

Dubas sucks ass. Expecting anything positive from him is a fool’s errand.

I haven’t agreed with BFD but it’s over.
How much better do you think he could have done given the trades today?

The Pens simply are old, this cycle has run, and the cupboard is bare from going for it all these years in this era.

What you are seeing is the natural course of events.

It may not be fun what we are facing for a few years, but it got us three cups.

I hope Sullivan just completely shits the bed the rest of the way and makes it nearly impossible to keep after the season, like so bad that it's repeatedly mentioned by every hockey analyst that Sullivan should be on the hot seat and they fire his ass at the end of the season.
I think the Pens are well on their way to get curb-stomped the rest of the year.

Example: the Capitals. Both teams are equally shitty... but they have a good young coach and they play a system. We get smoked by 6.

Your system can't be, "Go get'm"
The PP has been a joke for years.
Our defensive system is also a joke. Even Eller called out how many f***ing 2v1's and 3v1's we give away.

You think Sullivan is going to give any of those new prospects a fair shake....

Koivunen is the guy that likely determines whether this is a successful trade for the Pens. Not to say the other components can't be decent pieces. But he apparently has the best upside
Sure, but his chances of making that trade worthwhile depend almost entirely on the coaching staff in Pittsburgh helping him make that transition, and that's something I have no faith in.

This team is objectively not trying to compete.

Saying "Dubas thinks we got better with this trade" is hilarious. People need to actually look at the status of this team. They suck.

For what it's worth, Canes board has a prospect vote going on:

Nikishin
Nadeau
Morrow
Unger Sorum
Ponomarev

and #6 is a close race between Blake and Koivunen.

So basically, as per Canes fans, their 5 and 6/7 coming our way.
I'd rank Koivunen ahead of Ponomarev. Pono is more NHL ready, but long term Koivunen has much more upside.

Yeah, I’m fine with that aspect of it…it’s the coaching staff still being here…Sullivan needed to be fired yesterday…I would enjoy watching a team of mostly young guys if it wasn’t for our f**king arrogant ass coach

I would say one of the more smart underrated moves this TDL was Roslovic to the Rangers. Roslovic is a fantastic player that has been stuck on a shitty Jackets team after hoping to get better usage leaving the Jets.
I feel like that franchise has a few guys who just never are able to put it together because it’s a total $hit $how. They have some interesting pieces but they are a team stuck in limbo of being just bad enough to be irrelevant and just good enough to not fully tank like the Hawks.

Why Johnny Hockey signed there I’ll never know

I think how we got here is the issue, not what we did today. Not moving the whole f***ing season until there’s 3 hours left is what I have a problem with. Shipping out Guentzel without trying a new coach. Not trading to help the PP or whatever…. Nothing Dubas did this year makes me think that he has enough balls for the job required.
I absolutely agree as you can look back at my posts and see. I have called Dumbass out multiple times. He has failed miserably so far. I was just glad that he didn't handcuff us worse moving forward.

We are going to can Sullivan this off-season, make a half-assed try until it's clear it's over then sell again next year. Geno retires and we'll see if Sid extends or walks.

Karlsson is going to be traded with retention this off-season. Ditto Smith. After next year, Rakell will be traded.

It’d be cool if the prospects we got become something but if not then; whatever.

Team needs to be bad for awhile anyways.

Well, by the time this player is really a force here (or potentially so), they likely won't be here.

You're also married, you know exactly why Johnny Hobbit signed there.

They’re not competing. You think the team has cup aspirations? They don’t. Guentzel is the guy who had to go to get any assets back into the fold. We don’t even know what his ask is. If he wants 9 mill long term are you comfortable with that? Is that good asset management?

It's just so annoying how spineless this team is, tiptoeing around the blatantly obvious for the sake of trying to make sure Sid doesn't even crack a frown. It's making me resent Sid through no fault of his own. Miserable franchise.

Yup. Only using waivers as a tool to jumpstart this team while Crosby still got it is a fireable offense. What a waste of a season.
