Bring him back just to drive Sullivan so insane he walks off the job. One last gift to Pens fans, Phil.I have to imagine this is it for Kessel, no?

Hell, I'm not interested in him either. I'm just saying that being proactive in getting rid of the deadweight earlier would have given us a chance, or at least getting something for some deadweight at the TDL would allow us to see what we have in terms of cheap replacements to boost, and then sell next year or at the draft.nobody is interested in Eller this year or next lol
Koivunen is the guy that likely determines whether this is a successful trade for the Pens. Not to say the other components can't be decent pieces. But he apparently has the best upsideAnd another thing is that Koivunen will be connecting with former teammate Joel Blomquist who toiled in Wilkes-Barre-Scranton and looks to be the heir apparent to Jarry when the time comes
I don't mind Keeping Eller.nobody is interested in Eller this year or next lol
They gave up a guaranteed 1st, a prospect they knew they over reached on in the draft last year and then a bunch of extra picks for a bloke that has worse knees than a Vegas hooker. They got a pick and a prospect (Vegas' 32OV from last year).
They gave up Hertl, 2 3rd's, and ate 17% of the contract for 7 years.
It seems more Sharks trying to get out of the contract while they still can than anything.Yeah I legitimately think you can argue Guentzel brought back more value than Hertl did.
I don’t want Eller here next season either, but waiting till the draft or Free Agency isn’t worse than moving him today for next to nothing. If he’s still here next season by all means drag Dubas, but seeing if there’s a better market in June/July makes as much sense as giving him away for nothing with 20 games to go. Again we don’t even know if teams actually wanted him just what was being “reported” by a bunch of journalists who were wrong about a lot of things per usualI honestly don't care what Eller's value is because I don't think a shut-down 3C has any value on this team as is. What is the point of keeping Eller? So we can run the same losing system and play ineffectual Sullivan hockey?
Why do we need more old vets on this squad, especially since we just traded Jake for a bunch of mid-to-bottom 6ers?
Our 35 year-old players will all get much better. They are still very young. When they get to 40, the wisdom will grow.Like it must be nice to live in this fantasy land where things are only going to get better tomorrow, not worse.
We couldn’t get enough for Jake because he was on a 1 year deal.
He was on a 1 year deal because I didn’t want to extend him.
This was all about Dubas getting rid of a talented player for the sake of doing it.
He might be worse than Hextall. At least he didn’t look at our second best player and decide to run him out of the organization.

Clinging to this weird myth that an ancient team full of horrible vets needs to hold on to these guys to recoup their value... I don't get it.
Even if nobody wants them, at least try to shop them. Don't go "oh, we realize the TDL is tough on you guys, so nobody has to waive unless they want to!".
I think how we got here is the issue, not what we did today. Not moving the whole f***ing season until there’s 3 hours left is what I have a problem with. Shipping out Guentzel without trying a new coach. Not trading to help the PP or whatever…. Nothing Dubas did this year makes me think that he has enough balls for the job required. What would you have him do? Trade Smith for a 3rd and retain 50%? That's just dumb obviously there wasn't crap out there as you can see by all of the trades that happened nobody got rich. I don't like him either but, it's not like it matters what happens at the deadline when contenders don't want to give anything for someone who isn't producing. Retool will happen in the off season hopefully. You don't really believe it was happening today did you???
People are twisted up like pretzels coming to the realization, in real time, that this team's been f***ing dead and buried for years and it's only gonna get worse. It's fascinating to watch. This is stupid. Trading Guentzel was 100% the correct decision with the direction this franchise is going in.
And pictures of guys thinking they can’t remember if they locked the door because the lamps costed 5 cents, but it was worth it.In the early 2000s the Pens board consisted of lo-fi highlights of Euro prospects, discovering the White Stripes, sharing construction photos of a garden shed, and spreading rumors about 9/11.
And you know what? I'm ready to go back.
I guess this is a more succinct way of putting my feelings as well. We just didn't try anything, we didn't fix anything, and now we had a pretty shitty TDL. That's worse than trying and failing, IMO.I think how we got here is the issue, not what we did today. Not moving the whole f***ing season until there’s 3 hours left is what I have a problem with. Dubas sucks ass. Expecting anything positive from him is a fool’s errand.
I haven’t agreed with BFD but it’s over.
They clearly wanted him. If he develops well, great. Do I think they valued him over Morrow? No, but who the hell knows. Maybe they did because Dubas liked him in Toronto in which case yes, KD totally F’d up.Koivunen is the guy that likely determines whether this is a successful trade for the Pens. GL moving Couture without getting a 3rd team to retain. Dude's making $8 million AAV until he's 38.
