I would have said Smith for Kostin made sense for both sides. But they traded him.

If they were willing to deal a prospect: Antti Tuomisto would be my target. 2019 2nd round pick. Right Defense. 6'4 200lbs. Waiver exempt. After losing Rudwedel, this would be a decent pick up.
I like it

They could and SHOULD have canned Sully years ago….they haven’t. And they won’t.

Age catching up to the big 3 isn’t the problem. I just meant that once those 3 are gone…yeah….good luck finding anything to really enjoy about watching Penguins hockey night in night out.

Your Pittsburgh Sullivans!!!

Maybe once our barn is empty he’ll get the boot.
We all knew the team was going to suck once Sid and Geno couldn't put them on their backs anymore. We knew we'd hit rock bottom once they were gone and rebuild. We are in the toughest part now. It's like a loved one dying. It's great until you see the decline. Then it's worse when you know death is near and you see them struggle. But once they pass, you have the funeral, and you can readjust your life and move on.

Dubas has a presser in a half hour. If he's got something cooking he's probably finalizing it as I type this so it can get ironed out and sent in before the TDL.

Much more likely, he's sitting in his office bathroom psyching himself up in front of the mirror and reciting corpo-speak bullshit about how great of a player and guy Jake was, and how devastating it was to everyone in the organization to see him traded. Then he'll say some shit about believing in this club's core and the coach, and that their goals haven't changed; still going for the Cup.

And people will believe it for the sixth year in a row.

Damn Dubas been here that long huh

As someone who has given Dubas the benefit of the doubt, the Jake trade makes us worse now, and I can't see how it moves the needle at all moving forward. This is the Jagr deal light, trading an elite talent for a bunch of assets that when taken individually have little value or no value. I don't dislike Bunting, but he is just another middle 6 forward, and considering his contract has very little actual value ala Zucker a few years back.

There needed to be a single young, cost-controlled player with high-end upside in any package for Jake if they are truly trying to contend with Sid. That's where any deal needed to start in lieu of picks and Buntings. Rebuild your farm system in the draft and by trading lesser roster players.

Confirmed by verified sources-
Kyle is currently in a trance, unable to speak or move. He's dreamily gazing into Bunting's eyes. It's highly doubtful anymore calls will be made or received.

Somebody's gotta slip Dubas and Sully a dose of ayahuasca so they can experience ego death. It's the only way.

I mean, do you watch Bunting at all, ever? Getting him thrown in is actually a nice move.

He's a cost-controlled LW that actually brings something to the table that this club hasn't had in years: a soul.

When his teams are losing - he still tries and fights. He actually fights. Yeah his talent is that of a middle-6 but he actually brings something else - like the Hagelin's and Hornqvist's of old. You need those guys.

I'm okay with the folks dunking on the trade out of spite (though find it odd - still - that it's so upsetting that we give up the last 6 weeks of Jake versus losing him for nothing this Summer) - but to dunk on Bunting at 4.5M when we've been paying the likes of Rakell and Smith 5....cmon now.

Nobody is trading a young high upside player for a rental. Calling this the Jagr-lite trade is massively premature.

So now we’re tasked with having to get rid of Smith in the offseason after 24 more games of poor play.

Unless we’re lucky enough to run with him all the way until next deadline! :help:
