I was excited for him to get here, so if he picks up to where expected next year Smith will be okay again

The Zucker for a 6th deal sets the price for Smith. If we trade him it will be more so we can clear up cap space for next year vs getting back something of value.

One thing that sucks (on the mountain of other things that suck about this team) is that it's gonna be less effective to weaponize cap space by taking on bad contracts for picks/prospects as the cap jumps like $5 million each summer the next few years. Right when this team's beginning the teardown--hopefully.

I really hope they sell on Ned. I like him and would like to retain him, but i'd rather get what seems like will be an overpay for a good G (given the allen trade, yikes).

Ned is better than Allen. If a team like Colorado adds a solid option like him, I could see them making serious noise. I'd happily take a 3rd if its being offered, and take a crack and bringing him back in the summer.

I would have said Smith for Kostin made sense for both sides. But they traded him.

If they were willing to deal a prospect: Antti Tuomisto would be my target. 2019 2nd round pick. Right Defense. 6'4 200lbs. Waiver exempt. After losing Rudwedel, this would be a decent pick up.
