Rather have a vibe like Gibson in net versus an absolute head case like Jarry. Plus we would've dumped Jeff Carter.
Jarry has been far from the problem this season. He has played great to be honest considering the crap in front of him.

I'd much rather have Jarry and Yager than John Gibson. Sorry

Yeah I’m not sure why people think we’re selling. Dubas wanted to get younger and still compete. It’s a mid flight rebuild that never ends up working but he’s been pretty transparent about it. I would be surprised if that’s not what he says at 3.
Smith quite transparently has been shopped the whole time.

Honestly, why would anyone?

I have zero clue why Malkin, Letang, EK, and especially Crosby would want to end their careers like this. They all could win more cups.

It is not the money for any of them. But they are enormous competitors who would add much to any team on the verge of a cup.
Sid, I think he just wouldn't want to potentially tarnish his sterling legacy with the team by asking out. The whole one team thing's always meant a ton to him and he's a freak when it comes to habits and superstition. I get that he's also a freak competitively, but y'know.

Geno's said to really want to be the only Russian to win 4 Cups. He's also hopelessly devoted to Sid. I think he'll retire before leaving too.

Couldn't really give a shit about Letang tbh. And I like EK, but he's so damn neutered here that it sucks to watch. I do think EK probably gets dealt this summer though.

I can't imagine casting Dubas as the reason the team is in this shape.

Frankly, it's an absolute miracle that the team remained competitive for as long as it did. We were very lucky that JR swung for the fences with Kessel (and others) and got this team B2B Cups. But he stuck around long enough to become the villain, and Hextall put the final nail in the coffin.

I don't think *anybody* could have righted the ship in one offseason, but kudos to Dubas for trading our dead weight for EK. Sadly, the rest of his moves have flopped, save for Eller and Ned.

As for now, what can Dubas do? The Pens have possibly the worst prospect pool in the league, and the depth outside of the core is trash.

Is the only way we get the 1st this year (SJS) is if we get a top 10 pick? 11 and later they get it? I wish this wasn't at hard for me to understand

The problem with Jarry is he always sees a drop in performance post allstar break. We're seeing it this season again.

He'll be great from November to January, but then do a nose dive from February on (might have a 5 game stretch in March where he's good), and be terrible in the playoffs.

We don't need to be paying that much money, and that much term, for that kind of performance.

Sully is probably begging Dubas to sign ZAR in order to offset the losses of Ruh and Harkins.

But then we need a goalie. At least we can replace Smith with someone making the league minimum like Poulin or Ponomarev.
Why though? What's the difference when you've already signalled you're f***ing done? This is the only chance to get out of that Jarry contract. Avs and Devils still need a goalie. But Dubas won't right his wrongs

Jarry sucks ass. He's playing worse than he did last year lol.
Jarry's the dollar store MAF but without the durability. Athletic enough to go on runs that fool people who only look at statlines, but an absolutely headcase in net, volatile as shit, and just about the last guy I'd want when you absolutely need a stop from your goalie.

He was hamstrung quite a bit having Granlund, Petry, and Rutta on the roster which he turned into Karlsson. He also has BJC eating it $3.25mil while being barely passable as a 4RW.

And...his biggest issue...Sullivan.

The state of the team is not 100% on Dubas.
