I think I'm gonna have to re think my life a bit. Where to expend my time and energy. Who and what I want to invest my time. Probably gravitate towards horseracing more than I already do. At least in that case I can pick the horse, because unfortunately can't pick this GM, coach or players. Time to find my bliss. Spend more time with loved ones and enjoy my remaining years. And not continue to repeat this exercise in futility by following a team with no accountability, no hope for the future and no desire to change anything. Doesn't mean I won't post. But if I do it's because I'm hopelessly bored out of my mind. So, probably cut back about 20%.
Bye. If you're as good at picking horses as your hockey analysis, you may want to stash some cash under your mattress before getting too deep.

We're skipping thread and going straight to statue.

Did you expect Dubas to suddenly be able to move all the horrible ass deals he signed this summer?
I expected one or two but given that they are all multi-year deals they can wait until the off-season.

As tweeted, if it's Smith, Acciari, or Eller for a 7th, I assume just keep them.

Honestly, they gotta kick this year's 1st to SJ anyway so whatever. Can't believe they didn't recoup a 1st in the Jake deal. That's still so bonkers to me.

Start keeping an eye on potential top-5 picks next summer. This team's a lengthy Sid injury or regression away.
The more I think about it, the more that bothers me.

Dubas seemed to go "quantity over quality". I think I would have rather him done a 1 for 1 where it was Jake for a 1st or Jake for a top prospect rather than getting quantity but nothing that's great.

They aren't moving these players.

Dubas thinks Eller, Acciari and Reilly Smith are good. That's why he gave or acquired them with term.

He just traded Jake Guentzel for Bunting with term because he thinks this team can compete.

He acquired prospects that the team thinks can help within the next year or two.

This team isn't selling.

I wonder what Vancouver wants to do? They are likely okay if they stand pat but damn, that was a lot of smoke.

NYR still wants a RW...

I suppose I see the rationale in spray and pray strats. Even the Canes' best prospects are still prospects and it's a crapshoot. But man, what an underwhelming return on paper. Doubt it looks better in reality down the road either.

Those prospects don't do us much good in our quest to get young if the likes of Nieto, Acciari, and Eller are on the team though.

Jake on Sportsnet: "this is the business when you don't win"

He's not coming back
The more I think about the season and how the TDL went down, dude was OUT this summer either way. The team needed to pull a complete 180 for him to want to stick around. Reports all season about no serious discussion from either side on an extension, etc.
