Jarry has been available since he was signed basically. Dubas essentially told him to go figure out the deal he could get and then he came crawling back when he couldn't find anything. Same with Dubas.

At least we likely know if he's moved within the next 6-7 days.
He's been available since he played 1 of 10 games in April with the team clinging to slim playoff chances.

If PIT is actually able to move him and not be totally rocked in value, I'll be a happy person.

I think it's more likely you see Graves moved than Jarry at this point, tbh.

Some flames fan thinks Jarry for Vladar - Mangiapane is a fair deal. Which is insane to me...

I have my doubts Conroy would be interested. What more can Wolf prove in the A? Time to get thrown to the wolves with a vet 1B as insurance.

I mean, that’s not really much value to begin with. Flames fans seem to think Mangiapane’s value is like a 4th and Vladar isn’t exactly very good.

I’d be happy with that deal if it went down, but in terms of value, it’s not really all that much for the Penguins. The larger question I’d have is whether Calgary would want Jarry’s long term deal.

I mean. That's insane value for Tristan Jarry.

It's hard for me to picture Jarry being traded now, 1 year after Dubas flew to Edmonton to meet with him and his wife, talking about the future and his role there.

Even if the logical thing to do is to get futures and exploit this sellers market, I feel like the emotional attachment side of it will prevail.

If Ullmark went for what he just did I think I'd be happy with some old Aladdin's Castle arcade tokens and a half eaten ham sandwich for Jarry.
Yeah that's a fail for Boston. I'm surprised, considering how shit the goalie buyer market is. You should be able to get a 1st without taking on Korpisalo.
Ullmark was awesome last year, and his AAV is great value. Easily the best goalie available.

Except he's absolute ass in the playoffs. Not a single year he's posted above 900sv%.

  1. Ullmark's NTC clause basically made it a full NTC if he set it up right, which means he could choose where to go,
  2. He hasn't played more than 49 games in any season and he only did that once, next highest is 41 games. So you have to have another goalie who can play half the games.
  3. He has been complete crap in the playoffs.
  4. He only has one year left on his contract.
His value is no where near what people think it is.

I think the point re: Ullmark's trade clauses etc. are good ones. But I dunno... he's probably considered one of the best in the league at his position, right? Goaltenders just aren't worth much. Keeping Jarry now that Ned is signed still seems stupid, though. Even considering you likely get nearly nothing back.

Also is TJ's term left on his deal actually a feature or a bug?

I don’t even think the Ullmark deal was bad for Boston, they got a 1st and what seems like a decent bottom-6 piece for him. How many goalies have brought back better returns than that? It’s basically the same return Markstrom just brought back.

Right. I mean for a "one of the best players at his position" deal it looks underwhelming but he's a goaltender. So in that context it's pretty alright. I guess my main point is to expect little for Jarry in return.

If they even trade him. Which they very well might not.

If they can't trade Jarry for value, I think it was pretty god damn dumb to re-sign Nedjelkovic in the first place. It's not even just from the money spent on the position, but you could just run with Jarry-Blomqvist for a few years and eventually let Blomqvist take over the starter's role.

The Nedjelkovic deal only makes sense in the context of trading Jarry as well. If they can't trade him, they shouldn't have kept Nedjelkovic and should have just run with Jarry-Blomqvist.
