Well, I figured you’d be First Nations and all, given y’know, your argument. So, Mohawk? Cree? Algonquin? Iroquois?
just because they got here first does not make them any more native than someone born here. or are you making the case that if you got here first (or before someone else) you should have more rights?

This began about Florida taxes, no?

My sports-related take continues to be this: these teams represent their localities, and thus the values of their localities. Pittsburgh has cloudy weather and annoying traffic; many don't want to live here. I'm happy for the athletes that choose to. If other athletes want to save the 5-10% in Florida, that's cool with me as well. If they want to play in progressive California but pay the 13% tax, ditto. If being in their home country of Canada where hockey is #1 outweighs the higher taxes, that is also an option. Occasionally the argument comes up that teams should have different cap numbers based on their tax situations and I fully disagree.

I’ve been to San Diego twice.

It was really cool. One time was in January years ago but it was still like 55 degrees out. My wife and I took a walk on the beach, it was peaceful.

You can shadow edit all you want but I know that your post said;

“Mark Scheiffle is better than Sidney Crosby and we should try to make that trade happen, throw in a 1st if we have too”

The thing is, with our scouting and development in this organization the 1st is basically worthless. And Mike Sullivan exists! I'd add 3 more if I had to.

Rossi with an update that's sure to thrill everyone:

Cliff notes:
Sullivan got reassurance from Dubas that he's relatively safe and Dubas doesn't blame Sullivan for team's performance this year.
FFS, it's always someone else's fault, never Sullivan's.

Mike Sullivan can not fail, he can only be failed.

Which is why I could care less what we do in the summer. It will be the same same but the exact same. Keep changing the roster, stop bitching what went wrong when you literally know what went wrong and what has gone wrong for many many years. We aint making the playoffs again so let's waste our draft picks pretending we have a chance and become a lottery team. We are a year older, a year worse off.

Worst run org in the NHL.

Disagree here, summer for the foreseeable future is all we might have. Can't expect much from the team on the ice otherwise. This will take some time. How we draft and where we draft is about 80% as to where my attention will be. Developing prospects and accruing capital via the draft is paramount moving forward.

We might be able to make noise with key acquisitions via free agency or trade. However I'd say those two scenarios are a bit more remote. Certainly not impossible though.

You're holding onto the Crosby era. That's where you're making the mistake. That's dead and buried, even if he himself is still playing we are no longer viable contenders. And really haven't been in quite some time. Sid may or may not see another playoff game here. Last week in June and 1st week in July will be the highlight of the year if you're a Pens fan. Enjoy it!

Sid milestones are all we have left for a while.

Who helps that along the best? It's got to be B.Tkachuk and/or Marner.

The rest is all fun for armchair GMing but, without evening being pessimistic there is not a chance we do anything competitive for quite some time with the marriage to Sullivan AND his roster construction. As said before, sometimes you can just go against the grain and give Sullivan the opposite of what he wants and overcome a bad coach - but we let that dude literally run the entire organization and he's just not good at any one bit of that. His worst trait to me isn't coaching - it's scouting, call ups, and roster construction. I.e. he would be a downright putrid GM. Yet he's essentially ours.

As a side note. The Florida takes have been bizarre, off base, and quite bad. Is what it is though. My family has been here for a very long time (before Mr Walt "put it on the map") and the state's growth has been impressive. As with most places, the cities we have (outside of Miami) are our most undesirable locations. Nobody likes Tampa - but Clearwater? Orlando is shit, but have you seen the Butler Chain of lakes to the west of it (Arnold Palmer, Ken Griffey, formerly Shaq and a number of other hollywood second homes there). Jacksonville is like what Kat Williams said - has about 5 different 'hoods', is sprawled out and a whole lot of 'ehhh'... the best parts are areas one to two zip codes removed from those places, and that's often where the money ends up.

All the issues are just that. Pens can compete with a add at LW, Jarry being a top 10 goalie, Graves being better and health of Acciari, Rakell and Dubas hiring a Tochett type assistant to bring a physical perspective to the staff. Pens are out of most bad contracts assuming Jarry and Graves play up to them.
