@IcedCapp must be sad…

And DK is furiously looking for casinos and bookies nearby that can corroborate his ramblings.

A good trade might be seeing if we could swap Smith for Ehlers. Both only one year left and Smith would be a good fit in the WC. Jets not enamored with Ehlers any more. $1M more in salary for Ehlers. Maybe we add a draft pick too? Thoughts?

We won’t have any trade Jake posts this summer. After the Mid July we won’t have anything to talk about besides shitty Rossi articles.

Not sure they would be interested in Smith, even with a pick added. They might have more interest in Rakell.

Ehlers is about to be a UFA. Same with Smith. They might value the flexibility but if they think they might have problems finding top 6 wings, they may like the contract length with Rakell better.

Then you should be all over firing Sullivan…
I wanted him gone after Cole was moved, haven't done much since now have we?

That said

Since I'm fully aware it isn't likely to happen, why should I waste my energy on such a fruitless endeavor? You have to look at the hand your dealt and try to make the best of it.

I don't see motivation for the Jets to do that.

I’d be fine with that too..

He was mostly playing LW between Monahan and Toffoli. I know he's played RW too but that might come into play.

Ehlers-Sid-Rust
Bunt-Geno-DOC/FA/Trade/Smith?

Would be easier to swap Smith for a LW or Rakell for a RW if they are looking to switch things up. I still wonder how they view DOC as well. Do you bite the bullet and roll with him on Sid's line or do you beef it up?

DOC-Sid-Rust
Bunting-Geno-Rakell
Smith-Pono-Puustinen
Poulin-Eller-Acciari

Isn't the most unrealistic lineup for next year and it gives us buku cap space. Enough cap space to bring in a highly paid FA, to trade for a highly paid FA, or even take on a bad contract for a high pick. You have Yager, Koivunen, Broz, or you can sign another depth 3RW. Or maybe it's just Puustinen. Or maybe you rotate through some guys as long as the top 6 is banging along.

I predict we'll go after a big name UFA OR at a minimum two above average MID SIX guys.

I think the most likely off-season at this point is:

1. Smith traded in a hockey move for a LD to play with Letang
2. One of their 2nds traded for a young top-9 forward or the RFA rights of a top-9 forward (I think Robertson makes a ton of sense)
3. All remaining moves are depth signings

They'll enter next year with something like:

Robertson-Crosby-Rust
Bunting-Malkin-Rakell
O'Connor-Wennberg-Puustinen
Lafferty-Eller-Acciari
Poulin-Puljujarvi

Pettersson-Karlsson
Leddy-Letang
Graves-St. Ivany
Kylington

Jarry-Kahkonen

Pono will make the team IF healthy.

I think it's illustrative of the state of things that we've already forgotten Erik Karlsson is on the team.

Woof I hope not that's an awful line up. Wennberg sucks and Lafferty doesnt need to come back

I think Emp's lineup seems realistic.

Depressing, sure. But realistic.

Dubas can say whatever he wants about getting younger or whatever. But he's made his bed with this coach and we know how he likes his lineups.

Nah Wennberg is terrible they're not bringing him in.

Also Dubas just brought in 2 older prospects. They will get a chance.

Like I said, be prepared to be disappointed.

They're not going to be bringing in any big name players and will have cap to spend. They're not just going to sit with that cap space open and do nothing with it.

Pono will make the team IF healthy.
It will also be interesting to see how Puljujarvi fits into the mix. I think it's this year that they were really banking on. One year to get him back on the ice and then this year to actually see if anything is there. He'd be a fine 4th line wing with Eller and Acciari.

But with Pono, Poulin, Puustinen...there's just not much room. What would be nice...

Smith+Puustinen to LA for Gavrikov+Kaliyev
Rakell to Win for Ehlers
Eller to Col for 5th
Acciari to Tor for 6th

Debrusk-Sid-Rust
Bunting-Malkin-Ehlers
DOC-Pono-Kaliyev
Lafferty-Poulin-Puljujarvi

Gavrikov-Letang
Pettersson-EK
Graves-POJ
JSI

Jarry-Blomqvist

Why Debrusk - because he can shoot. Sure, he's got shortcomings like every single UFA out there but him and Ehlers in the top 6 boost our shooting ability mightily. And honestly, if I thought Sprong would resign here, I'd grab him for 3RW.

When your finishing is bottom 3 in the league, you need to boost your lineups shooting ability. Each of those lines is well-balanced with all the skill sets that would typically make lines work.

Alternatively, you could do Smith+Poulin for Gavs+Kaliyev and switch the bottom 6 to:
DOC-Pono-Kali
Lafferty-Eller-Puljujarvi

Which might be better because the original line up lacks a solid all-situations defensive line.

Your line up would not spend to the cap. Wennberg was trash for the rangers and isn't going to get paid much.

Also Lafferty didn't work the first time with Sullivan he is not coming back.

I am prepared to be dissapointed but it wont be that bad.

Disagree, not sure about your last two sentences there, they seem to be contradictory. In any case I think the team will do good work in the summer, both with the draft and free agency. I think Kyles moves were better the longer he was here. Also drafting Yager and Ilyin is looking favorable.

I don't think any forward UFA's are off the table. I like Debrusk. In addition There's several UFA's I believe who fit in well here.
