Ok, so he can occasionally get a point…he sucks at putting goals in the net and our finishing was terrible last season…

I mean, I’d say the only thing Archibald does at an NHL level is put the puck in the net tbh.
He's actually pretty good at it for his role and mins played. Still hate the signing for other reasons. But Archibald is a solid depth scorer.

This is so confusing. You can't put a goal in the net.

Goals are putting the puck in the 'net'.
Goals and 'putting the puck in the net' can also be called finishing.

I'm not grammar or any policing it's just.... dyslexic or... I donno... something I'd say before I've had my coffee. =P

Most second line centers have good wingers? Which 2nd line center apart from Geno carried subpar top 6 talent for years on end?

The defense just had a complete makeover. Really the darkest shadow is cast on Dumo and that's really it. The rest should perform better than last year. The Pens need to part ways with Dumo and find Letang a partner by next season.

So basically you want good players on line 2 and on defense. Great.

See I think #71 has been dragging down his linemates not the other way around. Maybe #71 just isn't good anymore or can't play the way he needs to be successful. What was the famous stat 4 primary 5 on 5 assists all season? That's fourth line center bad.

Letang is terrible as a PP QB and Geno should not be manning the point…haven’t we learned anything in 17 years? Jesus, just change it up

I think people here super overrate how good of a PKer Kapanen was in Toronto, but it makes a ton of sense to use him on the PK at this point. He's not getting any PP minutes due to the acquisition of Rakell, so you should be giving him some sort of PK minutes to eat to help redistribute the minutes. It's something Sullivan should be focusing on doing more.

I think your main PKers this year will be Blueger, McGinn, Carter, Kapanen and Zohorna/Archibald/other 12th F, with Rust sprinkled in out of necessity. I kinda wish they wouldn't be putting such heavy minutes on Carter, but they don't really have the PKing centers to be able to not use him on the PK.

What is your idea for change? Too late we already signed these guys.

You can't have it both ways.

I seriously don’t understand why our Powerplay has gotten so bad.

It started to stuck when got rid of a true net front guy. It might be a coincidence but this is the beginning of when our point men stopped getting pucks through to the net.

Atrocious. We need to move Malkin to half wall and Crosby down low.

If #71 isn't going to shoot at the point why is he going to shoot from the half wall?

The best finish since 17-18 was the year after we traded Hornqvist and it was 4th in the league.

Sadly wrong again STH.

play them in different positions, you’re not going to exclude them from the PP1 at this point…is Ty Smith gonna make the team? If he does, he looks good at the point, or maybe Petts…try Smith/Petts, Geno at half wall, Letang at other half wall, Sid down low and Jake/Rust in the slot…move the other of Jake or Rust to PP2…that’s my solution…Geno is great at the half wall when he has someone at the point who can get him the puck in wheelhouse, which Letang has not done often enough…plus we need his shot on the PP

There's no flexibility or movement. I'm not even sure it's so much who the players are or where they are it's the fact that they get posession, they set up where they go, and then they just kind of stagnate there. I'm not talking about that 4 feet in either direction kind of movement, there rarely seems to be any rotation or adjustment.

I don't care if your top 3 pp guys are Letang, Malkin, Crosby or Lemieux, Gretzky, Orr. If they're just going to trade-off passes while standing within their own special little circle on the exterior of the offensive zone while 2 F kind of float between the corner and netfront, it ain't gunna score.

I mean that’s been an issue from day one though. The biggest issue I see is the entry.

The old Red Wings teams didnt have a lot of movement on PP because their players were in their 30s but they were still effective…they need to be shooting a lot more pucks if they can’t move around effectively enough…”shoot the puck” is accurate and can still be effective with Jake and Sid around the net…DK had a similar comment on his podcast this am

It's more about maximizing Crosby's strengths, at or below the goal line.

There's this presumption that the half wall is the glamour position, and the best player should go there. That's why he's there. But his vision/hockey sense is not even close to as good on the PP as it is at even strength.

Malkin at the very least wouldn't be worse than Sid on the half boards and we could really use Sid down low.
