I agree that POJ is ahead of Friedman on the pecking order...though my question wheres Ruh? He hurt and I missed somrthing?
Ruh even rides the bench in preseason.

While that may be true who is the #7 dman come rain or shine?Ruh even rides the bench in preseason.

Ruhwedel has been skating with POJ on the fourth pairing. While that may be true who is the #7 dman come rain or shine?
don't worry before you know he will be in the line upRuh even rides the bench in preseason.
Ruhwedel if a RD gets hurt, POJ if a LD gets hurt.
I think that's their plan based on the D pairs they've been using.
Which would make it fairly unlikely to see Smith and Joseph in the same line up.
No idea if that means anything, just an observation.
There's an issue with your plan. A 22 man roster needs one of Ruh or POJ to pass waivers as well.I wouldn't go that far. It takes only an injury to Dumoulin or Pettersson for that to happen.
What I think they do with the defense is try to get Friedman through waivers and have him in WBS and run with those 4 pairs. With 1 RD injury, Ruhwedel slides in and Friedman gets called back up. With 2 RD injuries, then Friedman gets into the lineup.

With the expectation that Smith holds 3LD.
Would be interesting and if so it does solve some concerns to start the year.I'm betting on injuries letting them stay cap compliant. I don't know how many games the Penguins had last year where they were fully healthy, but I know it wasn't many.
We'll learn today that Blueger is out for a few weeks and that will solve all of their cap issues.
That was dangerous as f*** from Ovi. If his teammate doesn't duck that door...As Pittsburgh Penguins... Lindberg and Gruden zooming around on a scooter Mike Green style is sort of the definition of "tempting fate" haha.

I’m very concerned about relying on him for the top pair, 22 min a night…
I mean, I get it, but his analysis is either fair or unfair. Either he makes good points or bad points. What specifically do you disagree with?I think it's cute that people still value the analysis of whatever 22 year old is covering the team for DK's blog this month.
Yeah, Green. Utility cart. Was it Green that had to duck out of the way of potential decapitation, there? I thought it was but I could be wrong.
Also f*** the Capitals. Whew. That's better. Hadn't said that in a few days.

Yeah, Green. Utility cart.
I'm starting to think less and less about the Caps, which is much more disrespectful than hating them.
I just know they are wrapping up their affairs in round 1.
Maybe facing them in R1 is the key to getting over the hump? They're just so hateable, though haha. And I'll never completely get past their whole "if ya can't beat 'em goon 'em" stuff against the Penguins when they finally won their Cup. Though I suppose I should be used to that.
On your last point I suppose we don't have much room to talk, anymore.
Phrased that poorly. It's fairly unlikely you'll see it regularly is what I meant. You'll probably see it, but maybe like 10 games a season. Famous last words of course.
Which I guess makes me curious that they're trying it at all, but there's a ton of potential reasons and we've no idea which one it is.
You're probably right, but Smith's ability to play RD is an interesting component to consider as well. If Letang gets hurt, would you rather replace his skillset with Ruhwedel or POJ? I think POJ makes a lot more sense, where you can slide Smith to RD (likely playing him with Dumoulin) and then put POJ with Rutta.
But yeah, they won't both be playing unless there are injuries or someone gets traded.
Well that right there is one of the interesting possibilities. And the possibility they feel like they could well trade a LD ahead of the two is another.
But it could just be they wanted to get both of them PP work
I understand completely. but going from what i saw the last game, it will take a good month to get up to speed with the regulars. The next few preseason games will likely have non NHLers playing to preserve our actual players.
