I think in place of film study this team could use a movie night watching "Brink" ...it'll light a fire under this group, it's not about the money or being a sellout.

We need a preseason boost. Time to bring Jon Sim out of retirement. The preseason champion of the world.

Archibald sure sounds confident he's making this roster...

“I don’t think I would have come here if I didn’t think there wasn’t an opportunity to play,” he said. “With what the organization said to me and the conversations we’ve had since I’ve been here and over the summer, I just have to go out there and play my game, and I’ll get every opportunity that I deserve.”

But he doesn’t deserve any based on play so

Archibald probably makes the team out of camp but he also likely isn't going to be playing much.

The only guys he might be playing over are Zohorna and Poehling, and it's not like it's an easy competition for him against those two anyway. With Poehling and probably Zohorna (due to injuries) staying in the NHL and O'Connor, Poulin, Caggiula and Hallander in WBS, he'll be on the first bus to WBS if he doesn't play well.

I think that's a fair assessment. Archibald will be the 13th forward. You plug him in for a few games, he can play the PK, and you know exactly what you will get.

<Insert vomiting gif> I don’t even want to know what coach jackass promised him before he signed here.

Simon and Jank say hey. Archibald will be given every chance to play here; can we stop pretending otherwise???

Look at Simon, for example. Calgary sent him to the moon after 10 games. He then comes here the following season, where he played in what, 85% of the games? Now, he’s back in Europe after passing on a PTO invitation here.

We don’t have good judgement when it comes to the turd players. We’ve been giving idiots countless chances, while largely ignoring younger guys for two straight years.

The only things that suggest Archibald might not be permanently in the lineup are the fact that he was regularly sat in favor of Sullivan-disliked players like Reaves the first time, and that he has the situational awareness of an impaired Jankowski which makes him look like ass on the ice.

Nothing Sully seems to hate more than blowing a PK and woof did POJ and Archibald do that one already.

You ok @jmelm ? It's for the best. Get DOC time down in the A to work on his instincts.

Hey, thanks for asking. I've been in the fetal position on my shower floor, crying.

I'm totally fine with DOC getting ~20 games in the AHL to start the year while we see exactly what we have in Poehling and Zohorna. I'm confident that if DOC doesn't make the opening roster, he'll force his way on to the big club by mid season or so.

It would be REALLLLLY nice to see DOC get a chance to play with actual NHLers -- even play on the W with Blueger & McGinn like Z did the other day. You can't expect DOC to show his best playing with Poehling & Caggiula.

It's also interesting that Sully said he thinks DOC would be best at W (which I've long said as well) but it's clear that we're utilizing him at C for the most part, and he's a certainly a legit Blueger replacement option, the way things are shaking out and assuming we move on from Teddy after this season (if not before).

I'm guessing when they signed him Hextall was saying things like "sure baby we'll give you a spot no problem" cause it was early on and we had no other options at the time.

Than some younger models started coming around and it's causing Arch to get nervous so he's acting tough in interviews to pump himself up? That's what I'm reading.

Who cares about 4 liners? What matters is Line 2 production and the power play.

That will make or break the season.

Assessing 4th liners takes a more bird's eye view to really dissect the attributes of a player. It's a hobby not tailored for most.

Well I hope those dissecting can attend the games in person to truly assess the fourth liners neutral zone play.

On a side note...Gifs are so annoying.

Why did we lose last year? Those damn fourth liners!
