Uh oh. I agree with @Pens x.
I wasn't really in favor of firing Hextall and I'm still not but if he doesn't make one big impact move at the deadline I'm starting to lean that way.

Like I said I'd forgive selling if he chose that route too. But f*** me doing nothing is infuriating. That's just gonna leave us in la la land not making the playoffs and then picking like 19th or some shit. f*** that.

Who knows what this means, but Caggiula "unavailable" in WBS tonight.

Plus, some other assets are on the shelf.

I mean, that's exactly where they're going to be regardless of whether they make one big impact move at the deadline.

I mean he’s been here 2 years and his “big” moves are Rikard Rakell and Jeff Carter.

Plan the parade.

Equally confused.

I’d like to add a legit talent for 87 and 71 to play with for entertainment value. But any expectations beyond another quick playoff exit is hopium.
YEP & then when they lose in 1st rd, They can go back to blaming Sullivan

I do genuinely find it hilarious that so many people on here think the Penguins suck and this year is a lost cause, but they're mad at Hextall for not adding players to this team at the deadline.
I'm mad at hextall for (off the top of my head)
1. Feeling like he had to sign Carter at all, let alone prior to the off-season causing the exp draft to be a bungled mess.
2. Bungling the exp draft so badly that both mcann and tanev were lost for virtually nothing
3. Decimating a mobile defense and not trading put dumo for anything he could when he signed rutta.
4. Signing kap to too much money on a multi year deal when he def could have gotten him cheaper.
5. Creating the worst third line in hockey

I can't even give him credit anymore for the letang and malkin contracts, those were contracts that they would have signed for anyone because they both just wanted to stay here.

I don't really agree with that. Strength of schedule and games in hand favors us to get in. But not adding might put that in jeopardy.

I do think he'll get something done. It might just be bargain bin shit at this point unless he ponies up for one of the big Vancouver targets, and if he wasn't willing to do that for Chychrun I'm not sure he'd be willing to do it for Garland, Boeser, or Miller.

I also wonder if this is yet another example of this front office overvaluing what they have. Did they consider Chychrun expendable because Dumoulin has played better the past while? They're off their rocker if that's the case. Dumo is still not good enough.

Yeah Crosby and Malkin will have statues. Deservedly so. They both need to be told to get bent if they’re going to be “mad”. Letang included, these guys have been treated like royalty in Mario’s country club their entire career. I’m pretty sure Hextall didn’t even want Malkin back, and probably was okay with Letang leaving - but the country club spoke and here we are. Sid can go play in Colorado with his buddy, the other two wherever. Can spend a couple years petering out, maybe get a cup, nobody will even really remember they played for another team. Who cares.

It’s time to build the foundation again. We don’t even have to sell to do it. We just can’t be sending off first and second rounders for guys who aren’t doing anything to move the needle. JC is 24. If the Pens maintain the all in thing - he’ll be 28 before a rebuild even starts and 33 before you see the fruits of it.

Hextall is doing the right thing if he’s doing this on purpose - and the history books will remember him favorably.

I honestly don't think any 1 player is going to have an impact big enough to make a real difference here. The issue with the Penguins is that they're horribly inconsistent more than anything. If it was a lack of talent issue, I'd agree with you here, but I don't think that's the problem.

They just go through hot and cold spells. I don't think adding Chychrun would reverse that, because this team is just all around shit when it goes cold.

They clearly don’t know whether to stick it in drive or reverse. Stuck in N and it’s boring as f*** for everyone watching.
Because of arguing probably and this goes back to the Malkin signing that took forever to sign .. hesitating and in capable of making decisions.

Imagine being salty at the core when they're the only reason this team is afloat this season.
