I honestly don't think any 1 player is going to have an impact big enough to make a real difference here. The issue with the Penguins is that they're horribly inconsistent more than anything. If it was a lack of talent issue, I'd agree with you here, but I don't think that's the problem.

They just go through hot and cold spells. I don't think adding Chychrun would reverse that, because this team is just all around shit when it goes cold.
Maybe. I think you're underestimating how far a better 3c or top 4d might take us in terms of our play. I don't think it'd be a miracle boost or anything but the difference between Carter and a competent 3c or Dumo and a competent top 4 LD would be pretty stark imo.

But it's out of my control so whatever. We'll see what Hextall does.

The flaw in Yohe's logic is assuming that the issues on this roster are fixable.

Also hilarious that Yohe criticizes Hextall for doing nothing when he hasn't made a peep about Sullivan's performance as coach this year.
He’s criticized that third line quite a bit

I hate how black and white people are.

This is a grey situation.

We owe it to Malkin and Crosby, and the fans, to ride it out to the end with them. But no matter what they could reasonably do the team will be second tier contenders at this point in their careers. No move that any of us could get behind would move them into first tier contenders.

This doesn't even address the inevitable injuries coming to one or two of their core.

So a minor deal or two at best. Let them go and try to get a fourth cup. But keep the picks intact for the coming rebuild.

Best of both worlds.

Yeah, that's right now but consider expectations for each team. The Penguins are expected to be good while the Senators are expected to still be a rebuilding team. The teams are close right now, but the Coyotes probably looked at both teams and concluded that the Senators were their best shot at getting as high of a pick as possible. The fact that they're close right now doesn't really change that the Penguins are expected to be way better than the Senators.

Who are expects that? Pens fans? Most had the sens in the playoffs after last off season.

Who has moved comparable to those two for more?
Nino got a 2nd at 4M… Zucker easily gets a 2nd at 50%.

Same for Dumo. 2x Stanley Cup winner at 2M for a run.

The point is that you’re gonna lose them for nothing, we could have packaged the picks to ours to get better players for next year. A pivot could have been possible, now it’s dead.
