I knew this might be painful defensively after watching how that first period ended.

Shattenkirk looks like toast.

In a world where we talk about prospects needing the speed to make it in the NHL, I don’t know if a 30 year old with shot knees has much of a long-term future either.

You’d like to believe that being further out from the surgery will help, but time is not necessarily his friend at this stage.

Nashville 1-0 up on MIN and DAL playing against the Jets. Devils and Sabres still 1-1.

I would like to try Skjei on the power play. Maybe Gilmour too. Anyone but Shattenkirk. Sorry. He won’t get any better. The others might, and there’s no point in not trying it out at this point in the season.

True, but sometimes this is what happens when opportunity is presented.

Winnipeg may end up regretting that one a few years down the line.

And apparently Lemieux was of interest to other teams as well.

The key will be his ability to maintain. I feel like every time we get a player like this, something happens that makes the candle burn twice as bright but last half as long.

It would be nice to have a guy like him play that role for a longer period of time.

I don’t know if I buy the knee thing anymore. He has looked good the past few stretch of games (not counting this one or the last game). I just think the guy regressed like crazy. Look no further than his time in Washington.
