Mario and the Pens did postpone the development surrounding the arena for the last 10 years.

A fresh set of eyes could be good.

Of course Morehouse keeps his job.

i highly doubt it was the Pens who were the cause of delay.

and why shouldn’t Morehouse not stay on? He’s done a great job

@Pens x likes to fire everyone before they're hired.
The Hextall hire was one of the dumbest decisions this team made over the last 20 years. I assume he was dirt cheap; I can’t imagine other teams were knocking down his door. COVID really made this team go down the tubes.

I have a tiny bit of hope that the new owners will clean house. I want Reirden, Sully and Hextall gone. It will be interesting to see if the new owners will continue to pay Burke to basically make random media appearances as his job.

Don't hold your breath. Long time Boston resident/Sox and Bruins fan. John Henry is cheaping out as RSox ownership found a way to get under the luxury tax. They hired nerd Chiam Bloom from Tampa Bay as GM, signed a bunch of also-rans and let Mookie Betts go.

Believe me, I'm not optimistic about the Bruins either - we've got our own cheap ownership and awful GM, draft-wise. But I wouldn't expect much from John Henry. He just wants to own stuff and make as much money as possible.
Oh I meant like all billionaires are scumbags so it is a given that they would treat people like shit. Not oooh rich man with money will help our small city flourish “look out lord stanley!”

This is the list Morehouse had to choose from:

Pierre McGuire
Peter Chiarelli
Patrick Alvin
Craig Billington
Jason Botterill
Pat Brisson
Mathieu Darche
Chris Drury
Dean Lombardi
Dale Tallon
Kevin Weekes

Pick one. I’m not sure there’s a better option lol I’m curious to know who’s your AVAILABLE dream guy for the job.

I'd rather Jeremy Jacobs buy the Penguins and move them to some weirdly pronounced town like WUSSTER than to click on a DK article.

-edit- Remember when DK was full lapdog for the organization and went to extreme lengths to paint guys like Despres, Bennett and Kessel as unbearable cretins addicted to drugs, alcohol and gambling? That was cool. Cool fella, who I'm told treats his employees very well.

One thing I will say that gives me encouragement looking at how FSG runs the Red Sox: they dont have much tolerance for failure in the front office.

Epstein was the boy wonder who finally delivered a title (and then another) after 86 years. Flash forward to 2011, they still had a good team but collapsed. They didnt say "ahh, but remember breaking the curse!" No, he was gone. Then they got Cherington. He delivers a WS, and then gets fired a couple of years later. They hire Dombrowski, after a few seasons, he wins a WS, and then the team takes a step backward, and he gets the sack the following year. They want wins, progress, and titles. And you cant argue much with the results.

Not saying its wonderful to be totally ruthless. But in an org where we watched the best 5 years of our stars squandered because Shero and DB were buddy buddy, the "country club mentality" has been something we've all lamented, and platitudes like "getting to our game" have taken the place of actually coaching anything, putting accountability and competence ahead of sentiment and past achievements would be pretty refreshing.

Plus, for all the "Cheapskate" arguments, that doesnt really hold much weight in a league where the gap between the cap floor and ceiling is currently ~20 million. Baseball is a different financial world from hockey. Assuming an ownership group arent borderline-white collar criminals, like Arizona or TB, how much can you realistically "cheap out" when a few million saved on cap pales in comparison to the revenue generated from icing a cup contender? It's not like the guy has been Bill Wirtz and stripped franchises for parts, far from it. All those Red Sox retoolings cost money. That's money spent on payouts, money spent on refreshing the roster (and clearing bad contracts). If its money spent wisely with a view towards on-ice success, that's all I care about.

yet you offer no analytical thought as to why you want all of them gone. All knee jerk foolishness.

He's the guy who is as bad/ill-informed/wrong about everything as any other Pittsburgh sports media dummy has ever been, but he carries himself with an aire of "Haha, I'm DK, I'm not anything like those other bottom feeders."

Cliff notes version? I don't like reading his stuff.

On a random note, I always read his name as "Dijon", like the mustard, whenever I see him tweet.
I only skimmed it, but the sell is for $900,000. The group approached the Pens not the other way around. They want to add an NHL team and an NBA team to their portfolio.

Didn't the Bruins complain about us and them having the same colors which was why we had to change to throw up gold? Or was that a Morehouse thing?

Sully has that Bostonian look that they will use for Gillette shaving commercials

They complained a long time ago when the pens changed to black and gold because the pirates and steelers were having success tail end of the 70s early 80s

The Vegas gold was just a terrible marketing ploy

Pens can just switch from black and gold to black and white because, you know, most penguins are black and white.

All these takes about the new ownership group just have me chuckling. Like, you think it's unusual or unique for a billionaire to only give a shit about hoarding more wealth and worrying about the bottom line? Woah, crazy stuff. We get to go from a scumbag megamillionaire rape apologist owner and scumbag pedo-adjacent owner to a late-stage capitalism billionaire scumbag owner.

Crediting the work Lemeuix and Burkle have done since buying the team.

Also Burkle changed his mind late Tuesday might stay now as a minority.
