Depends on the contract. $1mil, 1yr? I'd ride with Jarry again. $5mil x 5yr? No.
No chance Jarry takes a hometown discount like that at 1 year. If anything it'd be like 5 millionx1 year but either way that's a bad deal for him (and for us too).

He's 28 and going UFA, this is going to be one of few chances to secure contract money. Some team out there will give him 5x5 on the market but it can't be us.

It's in the interest of both parties to move on.

I honestly don't think there are any teams in the league needing Jarry so bad that he gets $5mil.

Yet another example of you misjudging anything outside of the Penguins when it comes to the NHL.
Name the team willing to give Jarry $5mil after the season(s) he just had.

I'm not arguing that a team won't sign him. I'm arguing that a team won't give him $5mil, especially in any level of term.

Zucker should be a hard pass.

Nice that he finally played as advertised in a contract year but I have no interest in giving that guy term. Let some other team regret doing that.
Can’t believe people want to sign a 31 year old coming off a good contract year when we are ancient in our top six already…he’s going to have a Hornqvist like contract abomination once he signs a 5 year deal somewhere

"Let some other team regret doing that" sums up all three of the big UFAs, and many returning players as well.

Awesome job, FO and scouting department!

I could see Ottawa and Detroit throwing a 5x5 or something like that at Jarry. They desperately need goaltending to take the next step and Jarry is the best starter in a barren FA market. Maybe Anaheim if they dump Gibson somewhere.

Edmonton gave Jack Campbell 5x5 based on 67 starts in Toronto.

Jarry has largely floated around the top ten to fifteen goalies in terms of SV% over the past three seasons.

He also is pretty much the only younger goaltender on the market with those types of numbers.

Yeah Jarry is gonna get paid if he wants to.

I hate the thought of him getting a big long contract from us but if he comes back that's likely what happens. It'd be nice if he'd do a short term prove it deal but he won't. He's gonna be able to get paid if he wants it.

Yea after letting the season settle, letting Zucker go is a no brainer. Yea he played well.. but he wasn't even particularly productive. His point total equivalent in the Cup years would be something like 40 points in a full season. He did genuinely play really well, but it was also exaggerated due to how bad the depth was on the team this season.

Any GM with half a brain would have taken advantage and traded him away for assets when he was playing well. So frustrating

There was an article that came out saying if Carter were claimed in the expansion draft he would retire instead of play. We used that to our advantage by protecting him anyway. Smallest brain move possible.
I don’t know, Hextall wasn’t ridiculed for how poorly he handled the expansion draft. The majority of posters pissed on McCann because he was on a lot of teams and didn’t play well in the playoffs. However, very few Pens played well offensively during that same sample timeframe.

Most of the fans here liked Hextall until this past deadline. All I had to hear for two years is that JR would have done far worse. The dude pooped all over this team for two plus years before people woke up to see it.

I was told the goalie market was weak last year despite like 1/3 of the league making goalies moves. It’s never going to be perfect. You don’t stick with two known constantly injured losers because you are too lazy to make a trade. Lazy ass Hextall is gone - we can have expectations again.

CDS and Jarry have **** the bed enough here. Move on for the love of god.

Happy to take a bet on Jarry’s contract. Whatever you want to propose and then I’ll respond. Something around him getting 4.75-5.5?

I’m very against resigning Zucker, but 13 players in the entire league scored more 5v5 goals than him.

I said 5mil or more, especially with term but I'll settle for the $5mil or more part only.

Bet for bragging rights.
