Yeah, I don't agree that Mario was 100% all about winning. Dude shrugged when JR was years into brainless dipshit GMing and Sully was already exposed as a fraud in 2020. If JR didn't do this team a favor and piss his pants before stomping off, he might still be the GM on this team.

Ownership, recent as well as present, has failed this team just as much as the FO and coaching has imo.

With how awful Hextall was, honestly I'm not sure I would have hated this.

JR left the team with a pretty barren prospect pool and little draft picks, but Hextall took a baseball bat to the NHL roster while also not helping the prospect pool or draft picks.

How does that make us younger in the next 2 years? Jake and Smith are going to combine for like a 20th overall at best 1st, a couple 3rds, and a bunk prospect given Jake's injury.
I think that Jake brings more than you think.

His scheduled return from injury is just after the trade deadline. And he proved himself before that.

I don't think that the injury will be a huge ding to his pre-injury value.

Hextall was a better GM than Dubas has demonstrated so far here.

What team is moving big assets the day before the deadline for Jake?

If Dubas committed and traded him before Vancouver grabbed Lindholm. Yes, I'd agree.

Waiting to the last minute is just going to be an absolute stinker.

The players selected in the draft are usually 18 or 19. That's younger than 29 and 30.

My father complains all the time. This hurts. That hurts. I can't walk as I used to. I forget things.

What he is struggling to accept is that nothing really is wrong. He simply is getting older. Something that happens to us all. There is no magic remedy.

The Pens are in the same boat. Some here simply are having the same trouble that my father is in accepting it.

Absolutely right. They can't bring themselves into making the players accountable. They see the names but not their ages.

So we are rebuilding then, correct?

I think they're both terrible, but for different reasons. JR spent assets like he was gonna die any moment, typical boomer shit, and Hextall was just a total buffoon. It's been a mess for a real long time, imo.

I'm tired of seeing Sully trot out Eller/Carter on the ice for defensive zone faceoffs.

There needs to be more insurance, just in case. In reality, the line should be:

Eller - Carter - Acciari
Crosby - Graves

We are flying him to tour Europe for two weeks at the end of March. I am glad that we are doing it, as those memories will last long after he is gone. But I dread it as well because I know the challenges.

What prospect is going to be ready in 2 years in this year's draft at 20ish?
I'm more worried about 4-6 years from now to be honest. I'm ok wiith waiting. But the ORG wants to give the appearance of being competitive next season. lol

It's not a defense. It's perspective and reality.

Dubas has done a much worse job than Ron Hextall did. Which is in some ways hilariously entertaining.
Yes, but he didn't have chips to part with like Jake and Petts. And he's not buying he's selling. Let's see what kind of value he extracts.
