Yeah, this team is not going to improve in this…it’s more than halfway thru the season…they are pretty much what they are…change the coach or start trading some players lol…

I'm still very optimistic that Dubas wants to do what's right, will he be allowed? Not sure....

I'm sure he would have preferred walking in with MS not having an extension in place prior to his job. We shall see, I don't think the fans either are finally realizing that it's time gut and move on, well I think it's 50/50

Why would Dubas take a 7 year contract here if he wasnt allowed to do what he wanted? I’m more of the opinion that he buys into the Sullivan kool-aid and excuses it by looking at the roster and seeing declining players and mediocre ones….that’s true, but anyone can see they could be better…

I'd imagine after FSG fell over themselves in embarrassing fashion courting the guy, handed him a 7 year deal, and full autonomy, Dubas is allowed to do whatever he wants. The issue is what he thinks is the right course of action.

I think it's possible Dubas believes in Sullivan, but even if he doesn't, he knows FSG likes him and they owe him a lot of money. So if Dubas wanted to fire him, he's going to have to have an ironclad defense for why.

I'd imagine after going and getting him a Norris Trophy defenseman and the defensive plugs that are so crucial to run his system, if they miss the playoffs again, that'll be enough to fire Sullivan. If it's not, I won't even be able to pretend to give a shit about this team next year.

I think we all kinda project our collective dislike of Sullivan as a coach onto guys like Dubas and Sid when in reality he's probably extremely well respected and this team's failures can be conveniently placed elsewhere--couldn't possibly be Sully, he's a damn good coach! etc etc

Just spitballing here, but imagine a conversation like this:

“Kyle, we’re bringing you in to start the next era of Penguins hockey as much, or more, as we are to finish off the SidKin era. And your clock doesn’t start running until the next era begins.”

It’s possible that none of this impacts his job. Maybe he wants sully, maybe he doesn’t. Maybe the management group wants him. We don’t know.

It also probably doesn’t matter.

So nothing matters the next few years of Sid? That’s a depressing take. I don’t believe that because he tried and landed EK this summer.

I think @IcedCapp is close.

I think it's more of, "Hey, take some swings these next couple of years, but you'll be judged more on how you guide us through the rebuild rather than whether you make the playoffs the next couple of years."

It's not that these years don't matter, but that they're secondary to what comes next.

Perhaps I'm trying really hard to be as positive as I possibly can and this is it?
Dude we won the cup and Andy said someone was gonna tear their rotator cuff celebrating. I’m 99% sure he’s not even a pens fan, but some deep under cover flyers fan who forgot he was a flyers fan and now he’s living out the rest of his days miserable
