anyone hoping for PP change in personnel has another thing coming lol…from Taylor at today’s practice with Letang subbing for missing EK:

• Onto power play work.

• PP1: Letang, Malkin, Guentzel, Crosby, Rust

• PP2: Joseph, Eller, Rakell, Carter, Puustinen

I think it's kind of irresponsible for a reporter to suggest that a player is missing practice because of the Vegas Flu.
Is that what the photoshop says? Asking serious because I have no idea…maybe the picture is associating with something in the past? I thought it was weird

Get it? That picture is from The Hangover. In The Hangover a guy goes missing after partying too hard in Vegas.
Ah ok…I seriously was clueless…never saw the film

If they're in Vegas for a few days and only one player gets the "Vegas Flu", that's an accomplishment.
dont presume that lol…he’s the only one who was “sick” enough not to appear for practice…

Interesting article.

Points out that the Pens are right in the middle of the pack with their record, borderline in and out of the playoffs, and with Dubas imposing the trade deadline to determine whether to be buyers or to blow it up.

But the really funny part is that because of a weird quirk of scheduling the Pens have among the fewest games played in the NHL and only have four games scheduled in the next three weeks.

That doesn't leave a lot of guidance as to what direction to go no matter what the Pens do in those games.

Pens currently have a seven in ten chance of making the playoffs. And a seven in ten chance of being one and done.

And four games including this one tonight in the next three weeks to make a call to be buyers or sellers. Meaning no chance of a definitive answer.

So convince me to not be pessimistic and jaded.

He's not wrong. Malkin tried to stick handle through Vegas a couple times last night.

Karlsson needs the same message. Simplify.

They're both trying to do too much.

Also, Malkin doesn't make himself available to the media as often as others do, so when he does, he's going to get a wider range of questions.

They’re both dynamic offensive players (well, Geno not as dynamic anymore lol) and they are not really a fit to play in a NZ trap system that Sullivan wants to employ…he has to do a better job putting them in positions to utilize their best attributes and he’s not…for example, G and EK give up more goals when theyare on the ice together than when they play with other D pairs or forward lines respectively…yet they were on the ice together for the final Vegas goal

What they do in the neutral zone means nothing when the breakdowns have been more frequent in their own zone.

And if you want a defensive scoring threat behind the Crosby or Malkin line on every shift in a close game, you're going to end up with Karlsson and Malkin on ice together from time to time.

It's OK to put the onus on the players from time to time. Blame Sullivan for using Harkins or for increasing his use of Carter. But once guys are on the ice, especially accomplished veterans like Malkin and Crosby who have been in this system for years, they should know their assignments and be engaged enough in the defensive zone.

This isn't them just getting beat by the opposition making a strong play. Malkin and Guentzel were disengaged and out of position on two goals. That shouldn't happen with them.

The mentality issues are on Sully though. It happening one game is on the players. It's been happening for 6 years now, with players that have previously been far better at it.
