Minor quiblle as I'd prefer Z over Harkins. I'd probably prefer a most players over Harkins but whatever.

Probably the most balanced configuration. Would like to see Puus moved up occasionally if it looks like he's on
Harkins has been kind of OK, I feel if they have another forward other than JC, they would be even better with more OZ time

I can't believe people are actually advocating swapping Pus for Rust. It's actually insane. You have a proven NHL winger who in a bad season still put up 20 goals and 50 points, who was off to a hot start for an unproven player.

Sure Sid we know you got 3-4 years maybe left in the league. We want you to make it work with an unproven NHLer........ You can't make this shit up.

I am all for getting someone in here who is proven or has some pedigree that is young giving them a look. Rust doesn't deserve to be demoted at the moment. He's just back from injury and was on fire beforehand.

The infatuation with our weak ass farm system and players is amazing. It's one of the worst in the NHL and has been. The majority of the guys lately have come up and played their way out of the league. Yet the organization is missing out on the next great one not playing these guys.

People beg for the Angelos and the DEAs to come up and get their fair shake. And Crosby and Geno get stuck trying to cover for young guys playing well above their skillset at this point in their careers. Insane

no one is saying to put it in stone. rust is clearly not ready for prime time. so, all we want, is to move rust back till he gets back in shape.

Are you sure about that?

Maybe I am wrong but I believe there are plenty here that would advocate it. And I don't think Rust is "clearly" not ready.

The Pens played 3 games in 4 nights that culminated in the Caps debacle…happens all the time…the NHL has too many RS games

I've always wondered about this. Do we really need 82? They had this dumb ass idea of going back to 84 as well and I think that's wrong. They should drop it to 76. It's 6 less games but it can cut things short by a few weeks or more and create a longer summer to rest.

This narrative that Drew O'Connor has bad hands is weird to me. He really doesn't. Are they elite? Hell no. But they're good enough to be fine with Malkin. And playing into the ground with 4th line plugs and into some insane defense role where showing skill got you punished, he just needs time to keep playing in a top 6 role to really get that side of his game back.

I still don't like the Puljujaarvi signing. I can see the writing on the wall for Puustinen. Sullivan is using him like he's waiting for Jesse to get enough games to be called up to immediately send Puus down for no reason other than he's not Sullivan's kind of player. The usage is so f***ing frustrating to see.

It's why I wanted Drew to be traded this past summer and same for Puustinen to see them get a proper shot elsewhere to see what they are capable of when the coach isn't playing games with their future.

Also POJ - How the f*** do you expect him to get into a groove when he's in and out. He looked pretty good in 3 of his 4 games so far since that Dec 16th game. The coach seems to want Ruhwedel more than Smith and POJ so why bother even keeping either, trade all of our players with promise, trade Blomqvist too.

Get more marginal nhl'ers and play them like regulars like Acciari, Ruhwedel, Harkins, etc.

I don't mind Ludwig at all, Shea is alright too, ideally I'd like Shea in the depth role Ruhwedel should be in.

Blue city, blue state. Cry about it or move.
I don't mind athletes in sports like the NFL and NHL fighting for stuff like this. The toll this game takes on their bodies, the money should be better and the tax should be harder on the billionaires and trillionaires.

Glad they won.

I can’t wait until we trade Jake for some no-hands beefcake and we go back to seeing the Jayson Megna’s of the world on Sid’s line again. Do we need to re-learn that finding players who mesh with Sid ain’t that easy?
How would we really know? McCann got like 4 periods with Sid. Smith fewer than that. The only players who get extended looks are scrubs like Zar and Simon.

Would love to see Rakell’s numbers with Sid.. they seem to be fine.

You'd be correct. Good production, analytics, etc. Same as it was last season, Rakell just had that piss poor start being force fed to Geno and Smith.

Rust with Sid and Jake is a mixed bag. They produce a much as they give up. Yet Sullivan is a broken record with that usage.

The trio of O'Connor-Malkin-Rust has a small sample size as as trio but Doc And Geno have shown chemistry a lot this season and even with Smith on the left side and Doc on the right, that trio has also done well.

The issue is more or less how Sullivan uses the third line because it should be doing better and it does at times but it's clear Puustinen is not a fit with Eller. So Puustinen kind of gets shafted.

As it stands I hope Puustinen and Smith find chemistry on the third line with Eller. It sucks to be Zohorna to see Harkins playing while he sits. Same for Hinostroza, imagine being demoted because you're enough of a talentless plug like Harkins, lol.

Our opponent tonight is very VERY lucky, and good lol…would not be surprised if Jarry starts if we give up a few early goals and there’s the game…honestly would like to see Ned get this game as well as the next against the Canes…

“The Canucks this year have been blessed by an incredibly high PDO, sitting at 105.2 — far and away tops in the league. Shooting 13.8% as a team across all situations will do that.

One reason for the high shooting percentage is that Vancouver has been absolutely lethal when it comes to scoring off the rush.” The graphic had them at 22% scoring off the rush with the next best team at 13% and the NHL average at 11%…lol

Just read up on that. What a bizarre tax law. I get that states each want their piece of the pie from traveling athletes but the difference between 1% and 3% is a lot (for pro sports). Not sure Pittsburgh wants to get into a tax battle with cities that, you know, actually have money.

Looks like a washed up bum to me:dunno:

They're good off the rush? What could go wrong against this Pens team?
