I share the sentiment that this is probably my least favorite team......ever lol.

That is pretty mindnumbing considering we have a supposedly better team on paper with the emergence of Kreider Zucc and McDonagh.

The only thing that significantly changed the team is the new coach. The one that was supposed to make our offensve go completely bonkers in the oppositions net

Our forward lineup is weak and we have no shooter on D. Bottom 6 sucks

I hope out of all of this someone taps AV on the shoulder and ask him why Kreider isn't used in so many Kreider appropriate situations. Pretty sure if Kreider was out there on the PP, we wouldn't need an SO.

Nothing infuriates me more than AV not using Kreider in situations that are perfect for him. He NEVER uses Kreider when it is 4v4. Wtf? All that open ice and you keep Kreider on the bench? He needs to be out there. A few games ago he finally played him 4v4 and Kreider had like 3 breakaways. He's so fast he's the ideal player to throw out there 4v4. I don't understand AVs logic with this.

A nice vet like Poopoo deserves his 5677th chance. Kreider will get his turn eventually.

That PP sucked for all the individual reasons on the ice: the players. It was just a watery bowl of soup.

I never believed that AV was going to suddenly allow the Rangers to go hogwild in goal scoring. A lot of the time here on this HF Rangers board, that is how it is proposed.
For me? No, not that simple. A transition to what I would call a more normal method of playing the game. It sure isn't taking off so far, but I think for the good of the Rangers in the future, it still is the direction to go in. Maybe AV is not the guy, but one thing I do know is that I don't know that that is true, it's a bit early. I do know that Sather is bad, that some players look okay, some look bad. Wow, what a revelation.

Ive had it with paying 7.8 million for 6 goals in a week and then nothing for 2 weeks. Nash can play in traffic.

Although the return was mediocre, dumping Gaborik was a godsend. It'll be another godsend if we pawn off Nash.

Playing Nash Stepan Richards on that OT PP is the most disgusting thing Ive seen AV do all year. He consistenly plays the big names around Nash and sets him up for every chance of success, while other units do the actual production. Appart from Kreider, no one one that first PP unit has done any good recently

Exactly how I feel. Especially on Gaborik.

What I love about Kreider on the PP is that he parks himself in front of the net...screening the goalie.
He should have been out there.

That is a game where Nash HAD to lead. If we were getting blown out and Nash wants to be disinterested…fine. That was a game the Rangers had an opportunity to win and didn't. Nash should have been a man possessed in the last ten minutes of that game. Un fing acceptable

He could have abused many of those d-men in close too if he tried. That's what gets me. This was a pretty perfect game for him to take over.

As bad as the top line was tonight, it still looked like they were just a few feet away from creating opportunities. I think everyone was lacking a bit on the top line but they're not far off as far as Nash finding kreider etc.

Didn't see the game due to a sick kid, will watch the replay asap..

Just skimmed through the stats from the game and saw the Pens got 2 penalties for running down/over Henke..

Just wondering who stood up for him both times and roughed them up. Or was it our usual "here let me help you up and dust you of and ohhh please don't do that again" attitude from our guys?

Enough of the "we lost to the Penguins farm system" ****. ****. This board is the most aggravating place sometimes.

For the last 2 weeks all you read on here are people complaining about lack of progress. Lack of team identity. Lack of desire from the players to win. Etc.

You can't fix every problem over night, and every problem that is solved over night must have a faulty solution because things don't just happen that way.

We made progress these last 2 games. When was the last time this team came back in a game late in the 3rd? Probably hadn't happened this season until the Calgary game. They did it again tonight.

Calgary a lottery team? If they were in the Metro division they'd be 4 points out of the playoffs. They're 5-4-1 in their last 10.

Penguins farm system ********? Does that mean that 10/11 of the last teams they've played have been beaten by their scrub ass farm system too? Enough. This argument is invalid. We beat a relatively healthy Penguins team earlier in the season. We lost to a relatively banged up one now. Injured players or not, whoever they put out there fits in a system. It's a very ****ing successful system, and they've now had a sample size of what 5 years with Bylsma? Countless injuries, they keep plugging in and finding success. Losing to them tonight is no shame, no disgrace.

So we've shown resilience, which is a measurement of character. The identity is improving, incrementally. No one should expect some sort of exponentially positive shift. That **** just doesn't happen and if those are your standards then i'm sorry to break it to you but they're not going to be fulfilled... ever.

2 straight games isn't the norm, but it's a start and every team needs to start somewhere. There needs to be a spark, a connection for the guys to want to fight game in and game out for each other. Baby steps. Suddenly, this accomplishment is moot? Disregarded and irrelevant because the majority of this board wants to ***** and whine some more?

Do we have a lot of problems? Yes. We need more talent. We need more youth. We need a team identity. But these problems aren't going away instantaneously. No trades have been made. No players waived. No coaching changes.

So what can we judge the improvement on the team on? How about the only things we can. Character, will to win, compete level, chemistry. All of these have improved in the last 2 games, even if slightly. It's a step in the right direction.

Rick Nash couldn’t be more of a dog if he barked and played fetch #Pens were right about him. What a waste of talent. #NYRangers

He has good hands and won the last shoot out we had.

Kreider has never been known to have good hands. You need good hands for a shoot out. That and/or excellent puck placement with your shot.

Just got back from the game.

It's hard to believe the Rangers even scored 3 goals considering how offensively inept they were. It seems like almost every shot they took went wide or was blocked. Even in the shootout, they were ripping shots wide. They are lucky Fleury sucks and ****ed up on that 2nd goal otherwise it's doubtful they would have come back and gotten a point.

Nash is the master of spinning around with his back towards the net, only to turn over the puck without getting a shot off. Considering all the dekes and fancy moves he tries to pull off during the game, it's baffling that he opted for the simple shot in the shootout. Frustrating player for sure.

I agree with some of what you say. The players have to generate team identity. The Team Identity is not going to be 'we will become a talented team". I state the obvious.
The Team Identity could be, however, something like 'we will take advantage of our opponent through hard work", something like that.
Sometimes I do wonder about coaching.
Don't fool yourself, tonight's game was a perfect opportunity to go full bore and beat the Penguins. The Rangers showed no inclination to do that. They played a non-physical game, they followed the Penguins lead. They did not try to set the tempo.
Say what you will, but that is failing to play as well as you can.

That's great.

Too bad I was talking about OT and powerplay.
