The only real unfortunate part of this is Chad Ruhwedel is now a regular on D and we probably can’t afford EK in 2 years lol

Basically we acquired EK for a 1st, 2nd, Ruutta, Legare. Great deal.

Dubas undid a large chunk of Hextalls damage in just a couple months.

I think he's a piece who'll need replacing. I don't care that he's gone because it's easier to get Ruttas than Karlssons, but that blueline does need some size and defensive responsibility.

Also I have to shout out our very own @Empoleon8771 for telling Sharks fans on the main boards to drastically lower expectations for MONTHS.

Certain Sharks fans with (rather predictable) egg on their face now. The first round pick they got is maybe worth dumping Granlund plus the $1.5M retention on Karlsson.

In other words, EK had net-zero value. As you were told, repeatedly, for months.

I still legitimately cannot believe that Petry did not have Montreal on his NTC. It blows my mind after all of the crap we heard last year about him wanting out.

Maybe it was just the COVID restrictions and nothing else.

Dubas kept most of his major assets while getting rid of a bunch of dead weight contracts. You can easily get a Rutta type during the deadline. If the team looks deadly, Dubas still his Pickering+ Yager to play with.

Also lol Rutta... who cares. I'm not even sure I'm spelling his name right he was so irrelevant last year. I barely noticed he was on the team outside of like ten games, maybe.

But yeah obviously that means our old buddy Chad will be a fixture. But I can cope when your top four looks like THAT.

Smith has but I don't think he'll see the roster very often unless Sully trusts his PK skills. Although I guess Karlsson has been a very regular PKer over his career.
