Is Carter the only Hextall acquisition left?

Oh yeah and Smith and Nylander.

You are such a disappointment. It's 11.5 because they had to retain on Petry brainiac. Now if you have a legitimate argument I will listen. You're right it's not my money but, it's very poor asset management when cap space is the most important thing these days. Your name fits you perfectly. Enjoy the 70 points for 11.5.
Petrys deal is done in 2 years, Karlssons in four. So not entirely.

Really can’t call it terrible asset management when they got free of Granlund, Petry, Rutta and DeSmith and gave up no real prospects.

You could argue that the 1st and 2nd were actually the price to give up those 4 and we effectively signed EK at 4x$10m. But potahto potato, whatever. Boil, mash, stick it in a stew

I have zero issue with who they traded. The issue is with 10 million for four years AND retention on Petry.

And at 11.5 a year. Let that soak in a bit. That pretty much equals Letang and Malkin being out at the same time. Thanks though.
You do realize that it's $10 million, not $11.5 million, right? Maybe you should understand the facts before getting snippy.

Damned right.

I'll just never understand the people who want to meekly lay back and collect half-shit draft picks while Crosby is still around. I feel like these people are the ones that just flip the board and storm off when they aren't doing well halfway through a chess match.

Finish the game for good or for ill ya salty bastards.

I mean, I would have started a rebuild of some sort a couple years ago. But they decided to stick with the core. Given that, ain’t no way you sit back or try some middle ground path. If you’re committing to the core until they’re toast, then give them the weapons to compete.

I just couldn't see a way it would have ever made sense with Sid still around. That's just a huge, unmovable factor that you cannot square with rebuilding nor shouldn't.

But yes... doing some middle ground wishy washy stuff was never the way. As Hextall in the unemployment line should bear out.

Seriously though if Sullivan starts up on some horseshit about EK needing to "earn" the QB spot from Letang or whatever nonsense there better be an immediate closed-door meeting.

Sullivan seems hands off with the power play. For better or worse, 87, 71 and 58 decide what happens. And they deferred to Kessel before. I’m sure they recognize even in his 30s, EK is in a different tier of talent.
