Yup, the game was right there to be won. Our 1st PP unit got 3 chances and they choked. That was the game right there. If they scored on 1 of the 3 consecutive power plays they got, it would have been over.

Not a bad idea. Pittsburgh is not overly physical and Jones is a very good defenseman and even if they were, Jones showed in Hartford that he can’t be rattled. At this point, I'd take my chances with the Jones/Schneider.
Oh man you just gave PTD flashbacks of Kucherov beating Hank with a shot from Wichita, Kansas. When is the last time the Rangers came from behind after trailing by multiple goals in the playoffs and ended up winning? I tried thinking of one instance in the recent past and I don't think they have. We all know how many times they have blown multiple goal leads. But they can never finish off a comeback.
the 4th line had like 3 shot attempts for and 12 against in 7 minutes of ice time. they were dog shit.Rooney had a very strong game. You’re wrong and distracting
Oof. Nah.Can Putin nuke us already
In fairness, we are missing Goodrow, Blais, Motte and Lindgren.I remember talking about Montreal last year, and don't get me wrong, that team going to the SCF was a black mark on NHL history, but I looked at their lineup at the time and I said "you know what? They have 18 NHL players."
In these marginal games, not having bad players is even more important than having very good players.
Right now the Rangers have at least four guys who just jump off the page as not belonging on the ice in important games. I'm not sure you can say that about anybody in Pittsburgh's lineup.
And they’re missing their goalie, their backup goalie, Rakell, Dumpling…In fairness, we are missing Goodrow, Blais, Motte and Lindgren.
the problem is we'd have found a way to play Rooney, Reaves, and probably Nemeth anyway. They play because Gallant thinks they're good and bring value. In fairness, we are missing Goodrow, Blais, Motte and Lindgren.
And Zibs.In fairness, we are missing Goodrow, Blais, Motte and Lindgren.
Schneider has been awful alsoNot a bad idea. Pittsburgh is not overly physical and Jones is a very good defenseman and even if they were, Jones showed in Hartford that he can’t be rattled.
Game 5 of the ECF in Montreal in 2014 played out similar to this one. We went down 4-1 and Hank got yanked. Then we came back and tied it 4-4 but then Talbot let up 2 and then an empty netter and we lost 7-4.When is the last time the Rangers came from behind after trailing by multiple goals in the playoffs and ended up winning? Lol my bad, I don't mean to bring up more trauma, it's just so typical of this organization. Tease us but end up failing time after time.Oh man you just gave PTD flashbacks of Kucherov beating Hank with a shot from Wichita, Kansas.
Yeah and his record vs. the teams that let him go has been just terrible.......Honestly. Do we see why Galant cannot stick with a team? He’s pretty much Tom Thibodeau of the NHL….

If that’s the case then trade him at some point in his deal for a massive return.No. It isn't. It literally never is. I will happily let him walk after his deal and I felt that way when he locked up the vezina.
Which is why I'm not getting worked up too much about anything. This team is a year ahead of schedule. You start asking the tough questions about the core when this team is shitting the bed next year and the following. This year is about getting the young core and the next wave playoff experience. This team has never won a playoff series.
Of course we can come back . If it gets to that of course it's possible. But what happened in 2014 and 15 as nothing to do with now
Very true. This is one of those situations where wasting a first round pick on Lias and Kravtsov not being here hurt. And they’re missing their goalie, their backup goalie, Rakell, Dumpling…
yeah, that was very similar. But again they couldn't finish off the comeback which is exactly what the Rangers do in these situationsGame 5 of the ECF in Montreal in 2014 played out similar to this one. We went down 4-1 and Hank got yanked. Then we came back and tied it 4-4 but then Talbot let up 2 and then an empty netter and we lost 7-4.
Lundqvist had some playoff clunkers but seemed to always shut the door when it mattered. Igor has a chance to salvage this series but it has to start in G4.
