I better not have wasted my pick at 13 with you bums :sarcasm:
(Canes board did a draft since our team blows)

TM really goofing with the lines, talk about gamesmanship on both coaches parts:

from LeBrun:
Pavelski-Thornton-Burns
Marleau-Couture-Nieto/Havlat
Hertl-Sheppard-Wingels
Fourth line 5 guys

I think both teams are gonna use the blender this series.

I think they're trying to abuse the Richards-Thornton matchup by putting all their best guns on that top line. Because they have home advantage, they can make sure they get that line against richards as much as possible. Of course, that means that if Richards can hold off against them even a little bit, the other lines can run rampant. From what I've been seeing, this entire series will hang on Richards being able to hold his own. If he sucks, that line will suck. If that line sucks, that top line will be producing. God willing, hopefully Richards steps his game up.

I tend to agree but I think Richards at his best still has his hands full with Thornton and that's not a slight on Richards as much as it is a compliment to a future HoFer. Even if Richards plays well he still has to contend with size in a way I don't think his heart can overcome. We're spoiled with Kopitar being such an awesome all-situations player that our other centers having weaknesses feels funny.

Look at Richards going after Hanzal--he never quits, it's awesome--but he's largely ineffective.

yeah physically its just not a good matchup. Though its kind of putting our eggs into one basket, and breaking up a line that is playing well, in this scenario I wouldn't be opposed to moving carter on the top line and moving williams down.

74-10-14

I think with those lines, 1 of 2 things will happen:

1. Thornton line still is matched up with Richards. Though that line hasn't had good chemistry in the past, Williams is a better corsi player than Carter and will help that line defend and maintain possession. Putting Doughty on that d line will help also.

2. They move the Thornton line to match up against Kopi because that line is super dangerous unopposed, which will be great because Kopi dominates Thornton, and Richards can go relatively even against Couture.

Its not too crazy, Carter plays with Kopi and Gabby on the PP, so its not like they have no previous ice time together. I think it would be a solid strategy.

Also watch that secretly Richards has been playing with weighted gear all this season in preparation for this very matchup, and he will finally unleash himself for playoffs. :sarcasm:

Kopitar is going to make Couture his absolute ***** this series, I feel it.

i tend to agree but I don't like the idea of Williams with Richards due to size as well as chemistry. Although it would be nice to try to convince TM to go away from Thornton-Richards by steamrolling the Couture line. I think there's gonna be a lot of juggling. Personally, that's why I liked the idea of Richards on the 3rd/4th lines (among other things obviously); it would force TM to adjust how he uses Thornton instead of mindlessly hardmatching. Not that I think our third would fare much better really but you gotta play the mindgame. It's series' like this one though where having everyone with the ability to plug-and-play elsewhere is useful, I bet we see some really unconventional stuff.

Gaborik and Kopitar get me hard at least three times each game on average.

quick backstory:

Our buddy Mitchell is a kings fan living in the bay area. He has gone to 12 Kings games (including game 4 of the finals) and has yet to see a single win. This is what happens when a sharks fan reminds him:

haha that is the perfect response

If Green can pick up his game and not taking any stupid penalty. I would love to see Sutter playing 7 Dmen at home games, and use Kopi and Carter, rotating them for the 4th line missing forward spot.
That will add offense on our 4th line and diss out constant physical punishment to Thornton line. Greene can play in our Dzone face off situation, he has the reach and size to handle Burns and Thornton. Voynov is just too small for these two Jumbos.
