Kings are one step ahead of you on the road--they keep Richards and Voynov split according to jewelsfromthecrown.

I am glad that they are a step ahead of me. Otherwise, someone else should have their job.
It will be a chess match for DS and TMac.
Go Kings!!!

Richards will be a huge step up in the playoffs so we won't be trading him. Interesting with EDM dropping to 3rd - maybe they trade down if Eklbad is gone. They will maybe be interested in trading 3rd for D or a good fwd for D (That is presuming EDM have some sense)

If Richards is done, nobody is going to trade for him. Or, maybe some team might, but the Kings wouldn't get anything for him, and would probably have to retain half the cap hit.

If Richards isn't done, then he won't be going anywhere.

Way too early to talk about trading Richards. let's see what he does in the playoffs. But as I am a sucker for trade talk I will also get involved.
The earliest I could see him traded would be next years deadline. I think Edmonton for Gagner, Toronto for Lupul or in a package for Kadri, Calgary for Brodie.

reserving judgement until after playoffs...if he has a big playoff, all is forgiven..otherwise really need to look at the situation. buyout is unlikely DL loves him...but is the last year of compliance buyouts. can you really have richards and stoll making $9M and not contributing to the score sheet?

kadri..no! not a team player, just wants to pad his stats.

I think this is the last year for compliance buy outs, but I still think no matter when Richards will hold some trade value. Even if that value deteriorates there will always be teams looking for veteran centre depth.

I said in January that I didn't think MR would be bought out because someone would still give something for him, after his play continued to get worse and worse, I now feel buy out may be the Kings best financial option.

If MR had one, two or even three years left on that contract I would agree he may hold some value, but six years and almost six million a year for a guy who was as awful as he was this season, I think the only type of deal Dean is going to be offered is other teams equally bad contracts, you know both teams trying to hope they can turn the guy around, and I don't think the Kings are in a position to gamble with valuable cap space on say a guy like Brian Bickell.

There is no way anyone is giving up RNH or anything like that, MR's traditional stats were ugly enough, but when you look at pretty much every advanced stat it paints a picture of just how terrible the guy was this year, those are the types of numbers that GM's look deeper into, and I don't think anyone will unload anything of value for a player who has completely fallen off the cliff from where he was three years ago, and is likely going to fall more as he nears 30.

You don't think Edmonton would give Gagner?
Anyway lets see what he does...this is a thread for the game tomorrow and not a offseason thread

TSN panel picked us to make it past Chicago in the Conference Finals, and losing to Boston for the Cup. Neat.

Going SCF, WCF, SCF in three straight years would be insane. Especially thinking of how before 2012 the kings only made it to round 3 once.

Richards suffered some kind of illness awhile back and hasn't really recovered from it strength wise. Even so, his numbers are identical to 2012 and if it wasn't for the poor play last 9 games, he probably would have had his best regular season with the Kings statistically. He's not going anywhere for awhile.

He'll show up in the playoffs, he's a warrior and we'll need him to make a run.

MR for RNH...would be dirty!

That would be fantastic and I would LOVE a Bruins/Kings final.

May as well put Kopitar/Bergeron out there head-to-head with no wingers so they can black-hole each other and just let all the other forwards play when they're done.

He was leading the kings in assists and points for a good junk of this year. It seemed to correlate with the Olympics. I wonder if he was playing harder at the start of the year to try and make the squad, once he realized that was not realistic his play went south.

talking about SCF already don't get too ahead of yourselves lol

LET'S GO KINGS. Can't wait for tomorrow :D :D

What the hell did he contract, mono? He just looks exhausted at all times and hasn't been the same since the second half of the season.

First off, not even close in saying he had his best statistical season with the Kings, come on the guy just scored 11 goals in 82 games. Last year he had more goals in 34 less games and a better PPG in his previous two seasons with the Kings.

But it goes well beyond points with Mike Richards. If it were only points you could maybe call it a down year, but his other more advanced metrics are absolutely pitiful as well, as discussed in this thread.

Mike Richards was one of the worst players on the team this year, and he is owed nearly $6 million until 2022, you can't just come on here and say "he is going nowhere" that is not how things work in capped leagues.
