The guy is clearly just a Richards hater, duh! These overrated advanced stats are just like 5 goals and 20 points since Thanksgiving, the -14 over the past two years when everyone else on the team was a plus. These are all useless stats that haters talk about to bring him down.

WoW!! Look at how awful those numbers are. Yet here we are promoting this guy to 2nd line strictly based off of past accomplishments.

The sad thing is, atleast a guy like Ovechkin is a threat to score to make up the defensive stats. To steal one from Chick Hearn, "Richards couldn't shoot a puck into the ocean right now" to go along with his ridiculously awful defensive and possession numbers.

But hey, only 6 more years, 492 more games and 34 million in cap space. Sorry RP and DMac, I respect your guys opinions, but if he continues to suck in the playoffs he is gone, either by trade or buy out. I don't care how much Dean liked him in his prime, no way can anyone justify paying someone so much to provide so little.

Richards is def treading downwards, but he tends to step up in the playoffs. Saying that, if he sucks in this years playoffs, I think the Kings will consider moving him or buying him out.

I had issues with him the year we traded for him and won the Cup and he proved me wrong in the playoffs.

He was left off Team Canada this year, that says a lot. He didn't throw one noticeable body check this year either. Richards' was known for those back in Philly and even his 1st year in LA threw one on Vorachek and one on Burrows. Where is that Richards'? Didn't have 1 fight this year. Is he winning face-offs? He's def not in the top 40, even Kopitar and Stoll made the list. Is he scoring? 11 goals? Sheesh.

MR used to be a 60-80 point guy. Now he is a 40 point guy making 5.75 million and not doing much to justify that.

I think all most people have been asking is for the season and playoffs to play out before we throw anyone in the river. I've been sticking up for Brown and Richards all season and in Brown's case at least the injury makes this outlier year a little easier to understand. If Richards continues to suck in the playoffs, I'm sure something would happen.

disclaimer: if he turns out to have been injured all season like he was in Philly that one year nothing will happen--but we will all be pissed because he clearly needed to be shut down. Same goes for Brown, but at least he's been trending up for a little bit.

I think he gets at least next season before they consider moving him, he is Mike Richards, I know that doesn't hold much for the what have you done lately crowd, but we appear to have been wrong about D. King and Stoll has had a much better year than most expected , I think DL and DS will do everything possible to get Richards back to form before giving up on him hell look how long they kept Smyth and to a lesser extent Zeus.............of course when we did finally get rid of them we won the Cups so ???????

If that were the case, then the sooner he said it so, the better; if your speculation turned out to be true, this was like when Simon Gagné hid his injuries throughout the 2011-2012 season; then once discovered, he was shut down until Game 3 of the 2012 Stanley Cup Final.

Well then, that would be the perfect time to reunite Tanner/Trevor/Tyler and promote them up. I'll take a chance on that line.

Just curious to see, let's say if Richards is invisible in the playoffs, and DL considers looking for a center.

Which centers would be a great fit for the Kings? Im thinking someone pretty tall, fast, and a playmaker to accommodate carter.

Which guy would suit the kings?

If the occasion arose, I would trade him to reload the pipeline and go after Paul Stastny.

Terrific Player and I was surprised he didn't get moved at the deadline or maybe the Avs didn't get the offers they wanted.

But wouldn't that be a bit more than the Kings could afford? He's on the last year of a 6.6 mill contract, looking for north of 7 going forward. Then you add the potential 5.5 to 6 for Gabby and whatever the cost of the upgrade at D (4.5?) would be.
Where is that money coming from over the summer?

Yeah, after I posted that (what's an edit feature?) I realized his cap hit. For some reason I thought he was at 4.6. 6.6 is way too rich.

Funny thing about those 'rich ' contracts. The price of what a certain position is worth and what GM's over pay for it is getting way too rich . The Flyers overpaid A Mac, at 5 mill and Homer stressing all those blocked shots. Well he should block a lot, he's a turnstile at the blueline and his possession numbers are the worst on the team. And that's with protected minutes not vs top competition for the most part. A bottome tier D like him getting 5 mill drives the cost up for those above him in the feeding chain.
Look at what the top centers got last year, Getz, Giroux, Malkin, etc. between 8 and 9 mill. Just imagine what STamkos is gonna get in 2 years...
So the trickle down effect is why what maybe the average fan thinks is 'overpaid' and what the market dictates is widening.

If these really are the lines the kings are going to roll, might as well put carter up with Kopi since its going to be a one line team anyhow.

Rookie or not, Pearson is a huge upgrade over king, nolan, or whatever grinder sutter wants. Just terrible.

With the cap hopefully up quite a bit in two years, he'll be the highest paid player in the league.

Stastny. Hmm isn't he a bit of a choker or, what's the downside to his game. I forgot about it.

Stastny for Richards + JW.

Cap space + you open up a slot for Toffoli while adding a top notch center.

Isn't that a bit of a win win. If not JW Greene would be a nice piece for them.

He'll be a UFA, don't need to trade him. Can actually sling Richards for something else if you so desire.

Wouldn't be surprised about Stastny. We've been linked to him before. Actually thought the same thing when watching the preview show.

And how are the Kings affording Stastny's north of 7 mill (he's at 6.6 now) , resigning Gabby and getting an upgrade at D along with paying for the other players with expiring contracts?
Where is all this money coming from this summer?

Then who can the Kings fetch whos in his mid twenties, in package with Richards +.

A real good center. Anyone have some ideas?

Not sure at all. Don't' think it's even likely, just saying it's a name we've been linked to before.

Personally, I'm done doing any math/salary calculations/trade talk until our team's last dying breath :D

We're less than two days away from the beginning of a potentially long playoff run, and we're talking about trading our second-line center in the off-season. Cool.

Please, let this series start already.
