Love the pass from Kane to Peluso - brings a tear to the eye how unselfish that was.

Has Monty ever played in back to back games?

Yes... he has multiple times this year. I think we maybe seeing the emergence of a new starter in Winnipeg. Maybe... it's only 13 games in... but I still like what I see from Montoya vs. Pavelec this year. Consistently good good goalie vs. consistently bad of late goalie.

Bogosian right now reminds me a bit of how he looked late in Atlanta. Seems to have no real confidence what so ever.

I agree its a confidence thing right now. I didn't think he had a bad game but he is not playing with swagger and he missed Hainsey who was a smart veteran D partner.

Zach will be fine he just needs to play his way through it.

I don't think he's ever done it as a Jet. Pavelec has played b2b nights twice this year and they split the other ones. We have a B2B coming up in Boston and Pittsburgh. Will Monty play both games? Should he?

Monty deserves to keep playing. I must admit he plays better angles and positions himself better. I just feel more confident with him in goal, and I was a Pavs supporter. The team just seems to play better defensively in front of Monty, IMO.

The fact that the pucks aren't going past Monty likely have something to do with the apparent "better defensive play".

The Jets are still having plenty of breakdowns, but the saves make them stand out less.

Not to mention Monty's puck handling and rebound control make things easier on the D.

This is very true. Monty doesn't often spill rebounds out front into the danger area, so the D is not left scrambling to pick up guys pouncing on rebounds. It's the secondary chances where the Jets' D often starts to break down (as any D does).

Also, it's a lot easier for the Jets D to retrieve the puck and clear the zone when Monty is handling it. Pavs is weak and unpredictable in handling the puck, which complicates things for his D.

Very good points.

Enstrom looks really good with Trouba and vise versa.....good observation on the O zone starts. I think they need to ride these guys for a while. Jacob does make mistakes but most of them come from his aggression and I don't want to see him change that. Jacob is an incredibly smart player and I love that our coaches are letting him be who he is because he is special. watching him live is so much fun because you can focus on him and observe how he sees and reacts to the game away from the puck and he has elite instincts. Toby is pretty use to covering for an agressive player so they couldn't find a better partner than that for Jacob. For my money Toby is having his best season as a Jet.

Really pumped about the part of your article dealing with how dominant KSF are in the advanced stats.

Great idea for Noel to go back to what was working in year 1 with LLWBE getting the toughs.

Good article

It felt to me like Buff had less ice time. He was sitting at about 21 mins tonight which seems low for him. Trouba was about the same which seems bang on. I don't like buff on the ice too long.... bad things happen.

Gratz to the jets and to Montoya. At the best maybe we see a rising starting goaltender. At the worst maybe we see a spark under Pav's arse to play more... consistently. It's a win/win either way.

Happy New Year everyone.

as long as we are winning and Ellerby isn't the whipping boy, I'm good. If buff needs to play less and Monty needs to start more then so be it

Ellerby had a good night. One of the things he and Buff have going for them as a pair is they are freakin huge and I found their size seemed to pose challenges for the Avs top line the other night. As truck mentioned we will see how long it lasts using them as the shut down pair but for now so far so good.

Yea from what I've heard they're a pretty solid unit. Size is definitely a factor and can pose challenges for other teams. A team like Pittsburgh/Chicago you may not want them as the top shut down unit given how skilled those teams are.

I know Ellerby had a good night. I saw he scored the first goal and I was happy. :)

Missed most of the game as I was out for dinner with friends (where did I get so many non hockey fan friends, anyway?)... but I'm glad to see my lucky Jets socks didn't let me down... they are 5-0 this season.

Props to Pavs for doing his part to help the team win by staying on the bench. :)

Good game by most. It's all bits and pieces right now since I went a bit overboard last night but that Trouba shot was a rocket, blink and it's in.

We noticed how smooth his shot is at the skills competition. When most of the guys hit the puck there was a noticable "whack" as their stick hit the ice and the puck at the same time. Jacob's shot was nearly silent, no ice at all.

I believe its always been a confidence thing with bogo. Clearly he's got all the tools, I just hope he can figure it out soon. Probably a prime candidate for a sports shrink...although Im sure theyve tried that.

I hope you are right. We need to get the old Bogo back sooner rather than later.

I don't think Bogo is well suited to our system. I think he needs to play with a solid partner (Hainsey) where he can play a higher risk game. He's awesome to watch when he is free to gallop up the ice with the puck.
