I believe its always been a confidence thing with bogo. Clearly he's got all the tools, I just hope he can figure it out soon. Probably a prime candidate for a sports shrink...although Im sure theyve tried that.

Perhaps he just doesn't think the game very well.

He was always at his best when Hainsey was telling him where to go.

Gotta ride him now. Next is a back to back so good or bad against Ottawa they'll split the back to back. Pitts and Boston back to back, god. Then Tampa.
Pavs will probably lose and get pooped on by everyone here.

Noel still keeps saying "Pavelec is our starting goalie" and "He's not sure who is going to start the next game" :shakehead

Based on what? Is it because:

a- the money Pavelec gets paid
b- he truly believes he's the better goaltender
c- chevy is putting pressure on him
d- Pavelec has a controversial picture of him:D
e- he's a terrible coach
F- all of the above

How about none of the above. You need to stop taking what you hear from coaches and GMs so literally. Things are said in certain ways for certain reasons of which the casual fan are not privy to. Most of it has to do with keeping the media dogs at bay, rather than throwing them bones to run with.

By the way, I hope you are not referring to me specifically as a "casual fan". What I don't understand is why he needs to preface his comments about his goaltenders by saying "Pavelec is our starting goaltender". He is in the business to win games, PERIOD. He should play the goaltender that he feels gives them the best chance to win as he has also said. What advantage or how does it keep the media dogs at bay by saying that Pavelec is his starting goaltender?

And rightfully so he is a POS NHL goalie, nothing left to see he has shown who and what he is!

G- it gives the other team more things to think about, and also keeps there from being a real goalie controversy because that's not how TNSE wants to run things

I think another possible reason is how mentally fragile Pavs is, and he is trying to salvage some confidence right now

I have long had the impression that he is fragile. Not sure why else Noel would handle him with kid gloves.

Most coaches try to avoid speaking poorly of their goalies, but Noel seems to take it a step further.

TNSE doesn't want a team where there is a healthy competition for starting positions?

Really have to disagree with some of the comments here lamenting Bogo's game.

The guy played the first two months of the season injured and had our best plus / minus. That might not be the best stat to compare players across different teams, but it holds some value comparing players on the same team.

Since he's come back, the team goes 4-2 (which includes the gong show in Edmonton where everyone was bad) and he's played a role solidifying the D. He hasn't had too many end to end rushes, but he's had a couple lately, and he's been good at getting the puck out. He's also played pretty physical since returning. That's all with the boat anchor known as Mark Stuart tied to his hip for the most part.

He accumulated that plus rating pre-injury while playing visibly horrible. There is so much luck involved in plus minus, especially over a small sample size.
