Very solid game by the Jets. Yes, I realize it was the Sabres, but there was so much that I liked about the defensive approach this game. The tracking through the neutral zone was something else, very little was given to Buffalo in the way of passing lanes. They forced the Sabres to work in order to gain zone entry, and kept them confined to the perimeter when they did.

Great game from Enstrom! Covered up for a few Trouba mistakes, really heads up game from him.

Thorburn, buddy. Thank your lucky stars that replay was inconclusive. Total failure on his part to get the puck out when it was right on the freaking blueline. If that's not enough to get him off the 3rd line, I don't know what is.

How is Tangradi not a better choice for the 3rd line right now? At least he doesn't treat the puck like a hand grenade.

On Claude Noel:

Believe it or not, im neither a fan nor detractor, but i really dont understand what it is fans/posters on here want the man to say.

Is it: "Going forward Montoya is our starter"? HOW would this benefit anyone. I question Noels logic at times, and i think that there are more than one glaring examples of him making poor head coaching decisions, but to publicly throw Pavs under the bus would scream amateur, and Claude can do bad all by himself up in the Peg.

Honestly the starting goalie decision is up to MONTY! He is in the drivers seat--that being his level of play, and CONSISTENT play at that. Should he continue to be solid, and pitch shutouts, of course he will get more starts.

The Vancouver goalie controversy ended incredibly poorly, and was an embarrassment to that organization. To quote Eakins "We don't want that here". Lets talk about about the controversy amongst ourselves, and leave it to Lawless to create a mockery of it which he most certainly will.

How about this:

"I'm not going to get into naming the goalies '#1' and '#2'. We are taking it one game at a time. We have two goalies capable of playing at a high level and we are going with whoever is playing better at the moment."

That gives Montoya the support and the credit he deserves without throwing Pavelec under the bus.

Phoenix is playing the Oilers tonight and have 3 games in hand. Dallas is leading LA and also have 3 games in hand. Don't let the optical illusion fool you. This team is a long way from the playoffs.

Ok.

So, you win a million dollars.

"It could have been 1.1."

I get it.

Meh: he's only been back for a few games - he'll figure it out, I'm sure.

It's not on the same extreme level as it was in Atlanta, but he really hasn't played with confidence all season. Don't know if he's afraid to get hurt again, or if he's just afraid that he'll make mistakes in general, but he really is a lot better when he throws hits, skates with the puck, joins the rush, etc. Right now he's playing as a straight up defensive D-man.

There was at least 1 time tonight he had full control of the puck in our end, could have chipped it off the boards to get it out and turned it over. He might have more offensive upside but defensively not sure he is any better.

Coach Noel - Assessment of the game. Feeling better about his team’s consistency? Playing less time in their zone. Having Peluso out at end of the game. On Kane’s pass to Peluso. Goalie chit chat. Minutes amongst defenceman more ever. Does he have to ride hot hand to win games? What reason would there be not to play Montoya? More on the goalie situation.

pretty sure i heard him say something along the lines of "im not blind to what montoya is doing, hes playing incredibly well, we've won three in a row" ect ect. This is support No? I just dont understand whats expected....

He is better defensively. 1 play? How about the 4+ per game that Thorburn is out to lunch on?

He makes it sound like if Monty loses the next one he is out and pavs will be back in and playing the next 5.6.7.8.9. games.

I agree with what you are saying. I think the issue for many is that even Monty plays well he sits for 10 straight. People expect that behaviour to repeat.

Bogosian right now reminds me a bit of how he looked late in Atlanta. Seems to have no real confidence what so ever.

He isn't playing like he did in 2011-12, and maybe it is confidence, and I hope he re-finds his Mojo but its hard to rag on the defense when you pitch a shutout.

Claudes MO is to play pavs hard... like 70+ games in a season. Up until this little blip, Pavs was tied for the 2nd most games played for goalies.

which leads to the classic Beyak defense "Ondrej has faced more shots than any other goalie in the NHL" because he doesn't understand the concept of shots per game

Tangradi, O'Dell, Russ Romaniuk...I'd take anybody at this point.

I don't want to hate Thorburn, but it's pretty hard not to when he's getting prime minutes. Give him 4-5 minutes a game and you won't hear a peep out of me.

Huh, good point. I don't really know why it hit me this game that it reminded me of him in Atlanta. It's not that he straight up sucks, I just noticed that I didn't expect him to do anything offensively at all when he had the puck. And then I realized that I haven't had hopes about that all season long really.

The good news is you won't have to worry bout him after this season. Too bad you can't say the same about pavs.

Good team win. I said they would win 5 in a row and I stand by it. Two more to go OTT and BOS before they get pumped in PITTS.
