But anyway you've helped me make my implicit point. Pronunciation is hard even for well-meaning people, nobody I work with pronounces my name appropriately and I don't sit around bitching that these damn Russians or Estonians or Swiss butcher English names (which they do). It's an ungenerous thing to hold against an entire people.
Just speaking as an American, the people I've encountered that make the biggest deal out of correct pronunciation outside of the classroom are monolingual Americans and one Russian child that was unsatisfied with the way I said the Russian word for "pidgeon".

Last night's game was the first full game I got to watch Minty. He really reminds me of Scott Niedermayer, in terms of body type as they're both 6'1'' and around 200 lbs and play style. Yes it's early and only 1 game but I saw a few similarities. There were several instances of him using his body and lower body strength to dislodge a player from the puck and gain possession of the puck, much like how Nidermayer did. His skating is very good as well as his vision with the puck. Of course Scotty is one of the greatest dmen ever, but I can definitely see Minty be a poor man version of Scott.

Better than dry?

I think that’s prob tough to answer at this point, drysdale had a good rookie season and unfortunately missed most of his 2nd season, so he’s going to be slept on a bit now.

Im very high on Minyukov tho…. He seems like a full package dmen that can play on all situations and score 50+ points, not afraid to mix it up physically.

I see them as potential partners at some point

Mintyukov and drysdale will be our #1 and #2 for a long time

Drysdale is a much more physical version of Fowler and as he matures probably even tougher than he is now. Shorter Dmen that became tough & physical include Robidas and Beauchemin.

Mintyukov has the superior puck skills for sure. That is what has held back Drysdale’s offense, IMO. His hands can’t keep up with his feet.
I think Drysdale doesn't process the game all that well too. Often a better play seems to be available but somehow he makes bad decision offensively. At least that was the case in his first full year

Drysdale's offensive woes are a little difficult for me to characterize but at the end of the day he is not generating opportunities like Minty or even like Luneau to a certain extent. there is probably a multitude of things he needs to work on, but even these things he isn't glaringly bad at, but at the same time there's lots of room for improvement.

I still think of Drysdale as a RD Fowler, for better or worse. Just that type of personality in their game. Minty just seems built different.
I think Drysdale is more tenacious and quick to act than Cam. Not quite an overtuned motor like Montour was but not as measured and cautious as Cam.

There's some similarity but I don't feel like it's a 1 for 1. I think there's more room for Drysdale to be dynamic where Cam sort of developed into this mature and careful offensive presence.

I don't feel like I'm finding the best words to explain what I mean here.

I think Mintyukov has superior puck skills, size, meanness, and IQ over Drysdale. I think Drysdale is faster/more explosive, but agree that he doesn’t always know where he’s going.
Eventually not all these young d studs will stay with the ducks. Will be interesting. Right now, I feel that minty is the only mega iron clad longterm dman duck. Every other young dman, if the right opportunity comes along…

Well given a lot of the discussions in pre-season it sounded like a lot of people werent sure. I agree though, Luneau is the one with the biggest question mark but he looked very confident last night. Question becomes if the Q is the best place for him.

I think the Vaaks experiment might be coming to an end. Which leaves Buch and Luneau as the 6/7 guys.

Im torn with Luneau. If hes not playing, then the NHL isnt the right place for him. Cant have an 18 year old only playing 40 games or something and sitting in the press box. Probably will be the best bet to have him go down, even if its not ideal.

I believe the juniors teams play 50-60 games? I'd rather see him play 40 in the NHL and practice/train full time with the NHL team. Maybe a few conditioning stints in the AHL if that's possible. The real question is whether there's space for him to play 40 nhl games. I tend to think not, so I'd say let him play 9 (maybe over a period of a month or two with lots of scratches) and then send him down.

I still think of Drysdale as a RD Fowler, for better or worse. Just that type of personality in their game. Minty just seems built different.

Drysdale is a much more physical version of Fowler and as he matures probably even tougher than he is now. Shorter Dmen that became tough & physical include Robidas and Beauchemin.

I think people are being a bit harsh on Drysdale. He is a MUCH more physical version of Fowler already and I expect him to grow a bit stronger. In terms of offense, the situations he played in the first year - and Eakins lousy system - didn't really allow him to show much other than his great skating. Minty may be the better player or have a higher ceiling - he's bigger - but Drysdale also has a very high ceiling/floor and projects as a top pairing guy. And Dry strikes me as a guy who adapts his play (and may defer a bit) to the players around him. That was definitely the case when he played for Canada (as an underager) at the world hockey championships.

I think the comparison to Robida or Beauch is not apt. He'll never be that physical or rugged and Dry is much more skilled. At his ceiling, he could be a Neidermayer type of player - elite skating, stronger than you think, who relies on his skating, petitioning, and stick skills more than size. Duncan Keith is another comparison I could see. Down a tier would be a player like Morgan Reilly or Chris Letang type of players.

IMO his floor is a second pairing guy.
