Lol
Reading these comments it cements my position that Jets fans can NEVER be happy!!
You wanted him gone, he’s gone. But he didn’t get fired, should have been fired! Lol who cares? He’s gone isn’t he?
Then it’s Lowry isn’t good enough, we need a better coach. AV? Babcock?…Torts haha!!
Watch
When we finally do win a Cup you bozos will complain about how the Captain held the Cup wrong and passed it off to the wrong guy first! Lol

Good luck PoMo! You definitely made this team a better team from what you took over.

Congrats on the 'unhappiest' post in the entire thread

Maurice is a con man. He's made probably close to 10m convincing people he's an NHL coach. He'll be fine. There will be no sympathy from me.
You do you. I never saw him as a con man, he just did his best as a coach. That may not be very good, but, just like we blame Maurice for not recognizing Wheeler is not a first line talent who should be playing 25 minutes a game. It's also on Chevy to put a coach in a position to succeed and if they are not capable to replace them. No arguments that mo should have been replaced earlier, but, as a man, I have no complaints about him.

It's almost like...there's lots of Jets fans with varying opinions .

Shocking, I know.

You really don’t think this was mutual and how Maurice likely wanted it done? At the very least they allowed him to walk out on his own terms without having to show him the door. Being fired from your job can be pretty humiliating, they just found a way to avoid that for a man they clearly respect.
Yup I mentioned the other day how I’m a Cowboys fan and they had Jason Garrett for 10 years even though they clearly needed a new voice but respected Garrett too much to fire him. So they “mutually” parted ways during the offseason.

I predicted a similar outcome here, though I figured it would just be this offseason coming up that they would mutually part ways.

Clearly, a change had to be made and it happened in the best way possible. Good luck, Paul.

Tonight, every player had better put in the best effort of their lives. The message from Chevy to the room should be...

i know we talked about this before.

but that's the problem. Garrett should've been canned years prior, but Jerry was to buddy-buddy with him making it hard to fire him.

Maurice (my assumption here) actually had the balls to say i can't lead this team anymore, whereas Garrett just rode it out (hanging with a billionaire and personality like Jerry probably helped alot lol).

both maurice and garrett should've been gone way before their actual dismissals, but their relationships with the owner kept them around

I certainly don’t believe that Maurice willingly resigned. I think they had a conversation with him and said something “hey, we really respect you but it’s time for a new direction here. We would never humiliate you by firing you and want to offer you a chance to step down.”

Something along those lines. Maurice, though clearly holding our team back the past couple years, has always been a great, stand up guy — a fantastic Winnipegger who loved this team and the city. He had run his course here and it was well beyond time for him to pack his bags but for someone who has given as much to Winnipeg and True North as him I 100% AGREE with letting him go out like this.

Thank you, Paul.

I just think he was tired and didn't have answers which likely don't exist, such as how to get this pretty-good team to suddenly be the one out of 32 that wins the Stanley Cup. They've had some great years with him at the helm and I hope the next permanent coach can be equally successful over a long span of time.

Shocked and saddened by this news. Paul Maurice has been a class act the entire time he has been here.

Hopefully Lowry can turn think around and maybe Kompon back behind the bench will help the special teams a little.

Can't see Lowry getting that baby #55 to start playing commensurate to his rate of pay, at least in terms of playing some defense.

Don't think PoMo was actually "fired" but told he could resign. He was going to be here the rest of this season if he wanted to and depending on how the season ended his fure would have been decided then.

Good Luck Paul Maurice.

I can't believe some are already bitching about Lowry, Jesus give the guy a shot. Why were all the lines changed back yesterday at practice? I'm going to guess that was Lowry doing that. Lets see how we look tonight for 5 minutes before saying Lowry isn't the answer.

First thing I though of actually. Oddest thing that all the lines made sense yesterday. Now if they bring up guys from the Moose as reasonably, that would also be a good thing.

I’ll give him until the 17:00 minute mark of the first period and not a second more before I decide whether or not he’ll win us a Cup :sarcasm:

As soon as he puts out the CSW line, I’m done with him

I think PoMo gets a coaching job before the end of the season.

I don't think he wants one. Man has been making over a million for the last 6 years (and maybe will still get his 2 million for this season?), I think he's gonna take some time off. After the Coyotes game the Jets had like a 4 day break and when they came back you could tell looking at his eyes that he looked tired and didn't get much rest. I think he'll enjoy some time off doing nothing.
