This is the happiest day we’ve had in a long time.

Any good will Paul earned for that one magical season has long since eroded. I only hope it’s not too late to salvage Scheifele. Wheeler can enjoy his home on the fourth line for the remainder of his contract.

For the love of god hire someone that will play the kids. This is finally an exciting time to be a Jets fan again.

Yeah, I think a lot of people's memories about Lowry as a coach comes from that one WJC when Canada did really poorly.

There is no one experienced head coach without a job that I'm super interested in right now. I have no issue with seeing what Lowry can do with this team as an interim.

I'll miss Paul. He is a great guy. I just don't think he was the right coach with this team anymore. It was time.

I would have preferred Vincent if he was still here but I think Lowry if he is able to get the assertiveness up at 5 on 5 and on the PK will have success here the remaining of the year. We can evaluate and see who is out there in the offseason if need be.

Winter is Coming
Chevy is on coach #2 now... The rope on the GM just got shorter.

Lol. He's our David Poile.

People think Chipman gonna go put his own ass on the line a few weeks back with the ppl trying to cancel Chevy not long ago issue and think his rope is shorter? Lol

Chevy has likely got the longest rope you've seen in your life.. as long as Poiles for sure

The thing is... without having a replacement for Maurice ( and the rest of the staff IMO ) and we play the rest of the season with a intern-Head Coach, all we have done is write off the rest of the season.

Lowry takes over the reigns, but he's been here a while, so how is his message or voice going to be any different? It won't be IMO. Sure, maybe we see the initial "coach gets fired team plays better" push for a few games, but after that, what really changes?

Without bringing in that new voice, I see nothing changing.
His voice doesn't have to line up with Maurice's anymore.

So you’re saying between the options of being fired and getting paid and resigning and not, he chose to resign and not get paid? The guy has been around enough and been fired enough times I doubt it would matter to him. Especially given his length of time with the jets.
No one is saying there is no financial arrangement accompanying what is pr’d as “resignation”.

yup. lowry worked under maurice's direction. he could have a totally different view on this team and how lines are structured/style of play. i doubt he took his original job w/o some sort alignment w/ maurice's views, however, perhaps over the past couple months he's seen what hasn't worked and has new ideas.

Well I'm glad Joe Pascucci has zero connections because he threw out Randy Carlyle's name pretty confidently on twitter.

Jim Toth on CJOB saying Jim Toth things again. Claims Paul Maurice is excellent at developing young players.

I'm fine with Lowry for this season. If he performs well maybe remove the interim tag. If not look for a better coach in the offseason.

Huddy is going to outlive Mo, Chevy, and hell probably Chipman with the Jets.
I fear the Jets will do just enough to either make or barely miss the playoffs under the classic new coach bump and it will be enough to hire Lowry long term without exploring their full options.

It would be an undeniably classic Jets move.

Charlie Huddy has managed to collect an NHL paycheck for 42 years. Let that sink in.
