Speculation: - Patrik Laine | Page 26 | HFBoards - NHL Message Board and Forum for National Hockey League

Speculation: Patrik Laine

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
I think Florida and Paul Maurice could take a flyer on him. He idolizes Barkov, all it takes is one positive influence and maybe Laine's skillset fits the team.
Keep that defensive liability and one trick pony out of our roster.
Laine is totally unplayable 5v5 and we have already one defensive liability in Ekblad.

Maybe some rebuild team like Canucks is enough stupid to take Laine but we don't need him.
and if we want Finnish goal-scoring winger to our roster we can use our 9th pick for Oscar Hemming

So Thanks but NO THANKS.

He is tall. That’s all L.A’s GM Holland requires. The good news is he’s under 30 so us LA fans might be safe. Holland likes his old guys.

There are roommates we looked into him last year’s deadline. LA is in dire need for center. Maybe they use Fiala as trade bait and backfill Fiala w Laine. Who knows what they are thinking.

All I’m saying is there is NHL teams the one I cheer, for that will guarantee a guy like Laine gets an NHL contract

Laine can't even skate anymore. Not that it was ever a strength but he's essentially being shorthanded at ES. You basically take him if you're a crap team that can't attract anyone and need PP goals only. Marc-Andre Bergeron of forwards.
Based off this, I feel as though either LA or the NYI would be a good fit for Laine on a one or two year deal.

What people might not realize is that any team that gets Laine gets also an extra bonus:
- they get the expertise of @InsideLaineBOOM on their message board

For those that have never experienced this...Give us a summary.

Wrong. Habs became a contender merely by the presence of Laine on their bench and in the dressing room. They would be Stanley Cup champs by now had they actually played him.

His wife’s Instagram is cracking me up right now. She was very excited about him “finally shaving his playoff beard” and is getting roasted in the comments.
I don’t really think it’s funny to bully a guy’s wife on social media personally. And I have a pretty dark sense of humour too…

Did you even read the comments then on the post?

Getting roasted doesn’t mean she’s is being bullied. Her post is. If she wants to put things out there designed specifically for engagement, she’s going to get engagement. Doesn’t mean it has to be positive. Being an influencer and putting your whole life on the internet with posts designed to get a response — will get you a response.

While he would be an interesting freakshow, novelty act on any roster, I don't think any NHL team actually has the two way structure to support his awful 200 foot game.

Yup. Slow, and isn't exactly hustling to make up for it.
The guy is tall, has a great one-timer, and has some skill and offensive instincts in the right game situations, but everything else about him isn't a fit for the NHL: slow, no effort, not an agile or slick skater or puck carrier.

He's no better than Gurianov at this point. Sure you might get 25 goals out of him under optimal conditions, but he'll cost you more than that. That can work for rebuilding teams looking for some goals to keep fans from giving up on the team, with no expectation of winning, but no winning, or even competitive, team wants this guy.

In principle yes, but his new contract situation does make him more viable as a one-dimensional PP gun with minimal ES minutes.
