Go Habs Go!
Even though he's score more than 40 once in his career, pushing a decade ago.50-60. If he stays fully healthy: 70-80.
We'll miss your outrageous takes on the Habs board next season when Laine's gone.

I think PoMo knows exactly what you get with LaineI think Florida and Paul Maurice could take a flyer on him. He idolizes Barkov, all it takes is one positive influence and maybe Laine's skillset fits the team.
For sure.... but it won't be a winning team.In principle yes, but his new contract situation does make him more viable as a one-dimensional PP gun with minimal ES minutes.
I never said he did or didn't live up to that, the Olympics just has nothing to do with the NHL and the Leafs. If Makar or MacKinnon don't goof and he doesn't have a Gold.whatever fits your narrative i guess - to say he hasn't lived up to #1 overall pick expectations is complete idiocy
That Winnipeg Jets culture wanted him to work on his game and put the effort to develop into a top NHL player. Laine wanted to play video games instead.I never said he did or didn't live up to that, the Olympics just has nothing to do with the NHL and the Leafs. He'll be a 500 goal scorer within the next 2 seasons, what more can you ask out of a #1 overall pick, realistically? There isn't a GM that wouldn't take that outcome right now from their #1 pick.
This is a Laine thread though and Laine hasn't lived up to HIS potential, Laine looked like a 50 goal scorer and the culture of the Winnipeg Jets locker room seemed to just destroy him as a hockey professional. Maybe he's a decent dude and works as hard as anyone else, it's not like Phil Kessel was known as a workout warrior. He's injury plagued unlike Phil...Who knows what happens, I'd like to see him return to form, big guys ripping one timers is fun hockey to watch. Redemption stories are always good to see.
Yep, and what did they win in Winnipeg with their methods? Nothing. Walked into the league as a 30 goal scorer and Blake Wheeler who never won anything had to treat him like shit like he did other players because he thought he was head of player development...Good job BlakeThat Winnipeg Jets culture wanted him to work on his game and put the effort to develop into a top NHL player. Blake and Mark, good job guys, winners!
Laine drove the overly intense Wheeler crazy. Wheeler worked is ass off single day of his career. He’d see Laine put in a half hearted workout like it was middle school gym class and then go home to play video games all night. It drove him off the edge a bit in his intensity and that is on him. But have no doubt Laine and his lack of commitment to the game was the root cause.Yep, and what did they win in Winnipeg with their methods? Nothing. Sure, and they've both won the same amount of cups, that's what Wheeler got out of being an asshole to people. It's the NHL, you're speaking to a legal adult who's a millionaire, if you're not smart enough to see your approach isn't working then it's on you for being committed to operating with blinders on. I have zero respect for what goes on with the Jets as long as goofies that were part of that "culture" are there. Players and management. Not to Mention who in their right mind wants go to live and play in Winnipeg? Freeze your ass off all winter just to get stalked by players who've never won anything in the hallway at work...Detrimental to winning.Laine drove the overly intense Wheeler crazy. Not sure how you just make so much up out of thin air, but I guess go for it if that is your thing. No need to discuss further.Sure, and they've both won the same amount of cups, that's what Wheeler got out of being an asshole to people. Pittsburgh never did any of that shit to Phil when he went there, left him alone, won 2 cups.
I have a doubt, I think Laine's enthusiasm for the game was probably crushed by the Jets "leadership" and management who let him be bothered by people to the point of it becoming public. Why would Laine work harder when it was never good enough? He learned early on that nothing he did was good enough, so back to default, which is scoring goals and making millions...Play hockey, sit out injuries, retire whenever with your attractive wife, and start a family. Easy does it. Why do the extra just so some asshole who never won anything like Blake Wheeler can tell you it's not enough?

Though he had his best years in WPG. Wheeler might have been an asshole but whatever he did to Laine it worked, the kid broke records. It’s amazing how Laine was the problem in Winnipeg yet the problems only got worse once he left and Wheeler had his C taken off
How did the problem get worse? Maybe with Wheeler, but at that time a new leadership group with Lowry and Morrissey at the front started to take over which eventually led to Wheeler’s removal as captain. The team as a whole started to became tight and probably more than a relieved Laine was no longer their problem. It’s amazing how Laine was the problem in Winnipeg yet the problems only got worse once he left and Wheeler had his C taken off
Laine needed tough love.his attitude was not good right from draft dayI gueantee you if Laine stayed in Winnipeg he would have been a better player and ultimately made more $$$. Instead he asked to be traded, the Jets accomodated that request and that started his downfall.
No we won't.Even though he's score more than 40 once in his career, pushing a decade ago.

5 goals in one game back in 2018. Never forget.
MacKinnon would absolutely destroy Laine. This would be horrible. An underrated place for Laine is Colorado because MacKinnon could feel him some nice passes and could put in a lot of goals and also would have a playmaking defenseman like Makar.
I could see him being a Panther too at a discount which is far more likely.
But man would I love him back in Winnipeg!
Nothing against Laine the person bc I don't know him, but as far as a hockey player goes I would sooner see him fired off into the sun before being forced to take him back on the Jets even if he came free.An underrated place for Laine is Colorado because MacKinnon could feel him some nice passes and could put in a lot of goals and also would have a playmaking defenseman like Makar.
