The worst part of his comments was that he was vague enough to ensure every single member of the CBJs organization felt personally implicated by them. Bozo move from Laine.
As rose tinted glasses as one might have about him, the article was not a good look. Keep it honest but if you want to cast shade like this, make sure the innocents won’t feel sleighted. The worst part of his comments was that he was vague enough to ensure every single member of the CBJs organization felt personally implicated by them. It’s just the way Finns are in general … very direct - no beating around the bushHe’s just a big mouth…..I’ll never forget one of his first games with CBJ after being dealt by the jets, he mouthed off to then CBJ assistant coach Brad Larsen and Torts benched him for the remainder of the game….this was almost immediately after his arrival….certainly doesn’t endear himself to teammates…
FYI Ottawa wasn't going to play their regulars in that game either, they haven't for 3 pre-seasons.I seriously doubt he got hurt and I think it was just some of the same wussy cat stuff we saw in preseason when we refused to play any regulars vs Ottawa in the last game
Agreed. We all heard worse from other players... man, the 70s were bad compared.. lolIt’s just the way Finns are in general … very direct - no beating around the bush
What’s also not being taken into consideration is Laine’s therapy …. I’m in no way a mental illness specialist but would surprise me if he isn’t being counseled to be honest & open with his feelings / emotions / state of being etc. vs “bottling it up” insideGuy scores 8 goals in 9 games, then gets banged up and is likely held out for precautionary reasons with the break coming, and now people have the pitchforks out? Pathetic comments in here. His pre game comments were beyond tame too. Only in the NHL would they be "controversial."
Exactly. He’s not Jim Carrey in Liar Liar. Just don’t say anything.Or just opt not to comment.
He said they’re too satisfied with losing. That’s going to generate controversy anywhere. It pissed everyone off in that room and it doesn’t help his reputation.Guy scores 8 goals in 9 games, then gets banged up and is likely held out for precautionary reasons with the break coming, and now people have the pitchforks out? Absolutely. I've done therapy and dealt with mental health issues myself. He's definitely following the steps/process to work through his issues. I think he's awesome and his openness with his issues should be celebrated. What’s also not being taken into consideration is Laine’s therapy …. Waddell said LITERALLY the same thing when he was hired. They fired their whole coaching and management staff. It wasn't a secret they had (have) a losing culture. He said they’re too satisfied with losing. That’s going to generate controversy anywhere. And none of this had to happen. He simply could’ve said ‘just another game’ when asked
I remember the weekly Koivu interview where he would quote Hit Em Up and talk shit about our opponents. Good times. It’s just the way Finns are in general … very direct - no beating around the bush
That’s fine, Waddell talking with purpose as he comes in. Laine is a guy who demanded a trade and made no distinction on who he was talking about.Waddell said LITERALLY the same thing when he was hired. They fired their whole coaching and management staff. Definitely…but he’s also an opinionated wanker…seems to always give off the impression that he feels like he’s still coming off a 40+ goal seasonIt’s just the way Finns are in general … very direct - no beating around the bush
The BJ’s lost Gaudreau in the off-season and I’m sure there’s an extra sense of togetherness in the locker room because of it. I’m not surprised they reacted the way they did when Laine came throwing stones threw their living room window. The fact that the BJs players and specifically the leaders in the room don’t just own it… says a lot about whether that loser culture will continue.
