Pasta declined the chance to fight panarin. Hes your typical player with a tinted visor. Gutless

I think it should be multiple games. Not only is it a suspension worthy hit, for anyone who actually watched the game it was a dirty hit WITH intent to injure

idno about intent to injure...he def has a thing for lindgren and goes out of his way to hit him all the time but i don't think pasta, or really any nhl player, truly wants to injure someone.

stuff out there is happening way faster than most people can even conceptualize. it's a split second decision where he saw a chance to drill a guy he's held a grudge with for some reason, but he's not intending to injure him or get himself tossed. he made a bad decision because his emotions got the best of him, he served his time, it's in the past. that's not deserving of any more time sitting. he's gotta answer the bell if lindgren asks next meeting. other than that, it's over.

Bruins fans in here lapping up tears are likely the same crying them when Wilson hit Carlo in the chest and they were adamant it was dangerous and an unnecessarily violent shove into the boards.

But because this one’s from behind (and Boston) it’s okay go fast and finish high, somehow. Lindgren’s fault, even. Stay consistent folks, always love to see it.

I didn’t think the boarding aspect was that bad but he takes about 100 strides into the hit
This is something that needs to be considered more seriously going forward. Just, in general. Guys skating 20-30-40 feet or more to lay a hit at full speed. Often on guys who are already engaged with another checker. Charging is in the books and should be better enforced.

Is that the example where Wilson tried to obliterate a random Bruins 4th liner, lost the contact battle, and threw a tantrum? Racing across the rink the plaster Carlo with intent to injure? Odd example to use as a deflection. Ironic.

As expected.

Isn’t it odd how even though this is a lot of strides from distance and an high finish on a guy he’s been abnormally chippy with it isn’t intent to injure because… reasons?

Who’s deflecting from anything? I’m asking what makes this so different the pearl clutching suddenly stopped from a certain group of people and now they’re celebrating “tears” instead of acting like head safety comes first.

What’s a difference that isn’t jersey color?

When a Bruins player gets hit:

"What a dirty prick"
"What a clown"
"Running around like a rat instead of Manning up like a Boston Bruin "

When a Bruins player makes the hit:

"BIG BAD BRUINS BABY"
"DONT POKE THE BEAR"
"WE ABIDE BY THE CODE. WE DONT HAVE DIRTY RATS"

Too bad their "Big bad bruins" days are over. Soft as a butter team nowadays. Somehow works better for them anyway to focus more on skill but atleast I dont have to see them contradict toughness as much as they used to

This should be a 2 game but with the leagues stance on hits from behind this will be a fine (only because of the misconduct call by the refs)

You're describing every dump and chase race without nuclear contact at the end, there are times you're going to see another guy's numbers. Lindgren doesn't turn to brace, isn't making sudden moves, just knows he's going to get to a loose puck and positions himself to make a play while giving his back to the incoming check the entire time. Lindgren didn't turn, he took a position he's allowed to take to make a play he's allowed to make with very little material last minute change at all, arguably none.

It's not advanced calculus to not truck through a guy's upper body there and smear his head into the wall. Players manage not to do it all the time, and much like any dump into the corners Pastrnak's options are to race hard for the puck and try to chop it or concede the race and take the win by pinning the player and being in good position to cycle.

Putting blame on Lindgren here is such a far cry from how you usually talk about hits and the "onus of the hitter" it's insane.

I don’t know how more plainly I can say “this is a major penalty”. It’s weird that I’m saying it for the third time and you still feel that we’re in conflict on that point.

This being a major penalty is an entirely separate issue from Lindgren making an inexplicable decision to show his numbers on purpose, as though he were inviting his opponent to drill him face-first into the boards.

Both of those things happened on the same play.

Pasta got 5 and the game, and the Rangers won. I don't think any Rangers fans care about whether or not he gets suspended
plenty of tears to go ‘round. It doesn’t apply to Rangers fans only.

It’s nothing to do with being a fan of either team. Player safety should be important to all hockey fans.

Because what I’m asking is for you to explain why this is functionally different than a defenseman retrieving a loose puck in the corner in any other setting. They aren’t engaged, he’s got multiple feet on the attacker, and is assuredly going to get to the puck first.

What makes his obligation different here than if it were dumped in by another forechecker? This isn’t a bang bang play made unfortunate by a sudden turn, this is a guy seeing numbers from like the circles.

If Lindgren had just made a bad pass off the boards and now it’s coming right back into his corner but he’s got half the distance to travel that the forecheck does, he’s not going to race there and then post up to be crushed flat footed… you suggest this isn’t a hockey play or is a bad decision on his part but it’s not, it’s no different than “giving up your back” to chase pucks in any other phase of the game.
