Stepping aside from the crazy, this might be a solid hire. We shall see.

Just count me as less than enthused bringing in the man that ran the Wild for 10 years and accomplished nothing with that team.

His NHL GM resume is at best mild mediocrity. Let’s see what he does.

Yeah, drafting should remain a strong point assuming he retains the same staff. I'm just worried he'll have pressure from above to make a spalsh with trades/FA signings, but I guess whoever was hired as GM was going to have the problem.

I really, really wouldn't mind a huge purge. It's going to have to wait for a while now.

Timeframe

Next 12 months sell off the young assets to gain a 3 yr window

3 yr window
2019
2020
2021
Now the talent pool and the salary cap is decimated.

2022
2023
Bad Flyer teams

2024 - A purge

2029 - if things go well, then maybe we're in real contention for a cup

He also started with a wild team that basically had 2 good players, his starting position here is already miles better than that.

I'm not at all excited about this hire. The only positive is that we are shifting away from the eternal patience approach. We are still going to have the leagues worst coaching staff and arguably the leagues worst goaltending carousel. We are not making the Playoffs and the only thing we have to look forward to in Spring is the Draft, which has been the same story for 5 plus years now.

Love you guys on here, but I’m not entering a conversation in defending his time with the wild.

Mediocre from top to bottom. Especially with the prospect pool, something so crucial to the modern day NHL.

Had to go against some of the best teams ever assembled. Only one team wins the cup.

Our scouts will still be here and Homer wants drafting still.

Yes, having an elite prospect pool for the first time has really taken the flyers to new heights.

Hak is 100% staying.

You don't go hiring an assistant coach if you are about to fire a new coach.

Sad.
I've said it before, but Honk likely stays on for this season. Hopefully they bottom out and can get a top 5 pick, that might be the last piece we need to be a contender.

I would be willing to bet money he is not the coach to start next season though, because if he is this organization has problems.

They are going to make moves to improve the on ice product, and in reality you can really only go up now to begin with.

Hakstol is staying, and it’s very possible that it’s beyond this season. The results will be there to avoid a firing.

Pathetic.

Lol at multiple playoff appearances.

If that’s all this organization is after. Being early round playoff fodder then he fits like a glove.

Behind the times.
The sad thing is, that is a massive improvement over Hextall's tenure where the team missed the playoffs as many times as they made it and didnt win a single playoff series in four years. I guess that point just flew right over your head while you were too busy ranting and raving like a WIP caller.
