Racewalking is probably the dumbest event at the whole Olympics... and that is saying something.
I would be embarrassed if I did that event.

It would be funny if there was cheap/feasible way of implementing sensors = forcing athletes to stick to ''ground contact'' rule... And see how much the times worsen
Like, I am no race walk judge... but so many of them have both their feet off the ground basically every stride.
Half of them just jog while doing the funny hip thing to throw off the judges aha.
Hell, the wiki for racewalking has a still that shows multiple of them that should be DQ'd lmao.

Basically whoever is the best at pretending not to jog and does not get noticed by the judges is the Gold medalist.
DQ them all.
Make them wear Heelys. If they stop rolling, DQOne thing is sure - since (first) childbirth I've always been fighting tight hips after workouts and them doing the hip thing on hard road surface makes me instinctively wince every time haha
But yeah, they are all running. Sensors aside, not sure how to fix this.
Handball and field hockey really suffer in comparison to other ball sports. Handball because you can't really contest possession like you can in soccer so the teams basically take turns trying to score from distance, and creating offense in field hockey is a total chore compared to doing it on ice. And then there are the constant whistles for the ball touching people's feet.
I still watch the Dutch women's games, though. Best uniforms in all of sports.
Really makes me sad the misinformation being spouted about Imane Khelif right now...
Cannot imagine what it must be like...
People spreading rumours she is Trans etc.
It is a complicated matter but her and Lin Yu‑ting are "women" in terms of what society in general would view as a woman. That is pretty certain.
Are they "intersex"...maybe... are they hyperandrogenous... maybe... though that has not been confirmed either. All we actually know is they both had elevated testosterone levels on some tests.
But neither are trans yet it is being spread around as truth now.
Now, should they be allowed to compete in international sport. Who knows. But they are allowed, and that is not their fault
Always reminds me of this classic episode of Malcom in the MiddleRacewalking is probably the dumbest event at the whole Olympics... and that is saying something.

1) The current misinformation is sad and I cannot imagine what she is going through
2) BUT she should not be allowed to compete and there should be better ''benchmarks'' to control/test for that
Which lends to the thought that the drug tests should be performed naked and then we'll know for sureReally makes me sad the misinformation being spouted about Imane Khelif right now...

The IBA banned them for testing that was specific, but not testosterone. Seems like chromosone testing. It is one thing to question whether competition is fair amongst differing traits, it is another to allow hand to hand combat.

Maybe they either should have invested a few more euros or um, I don't know, done a better job?Paris has invested 1.4 billion euros to modernize the sewerage system and guarantee the safety and quality of the Seine waters. That's why...
Having watched enough international sports in my life, and I'm not trying to be controversial or be a troll but the first time I saw a noted WNBA player then in college. I said to a sportscaster buddy at the time "that's a man"I mean... it has not even been confirmed if she is XY... or XX with high testosterone.
Also, she has fought for years. And is not even powerful for a female boxer! She can hardly KO anyone and has been beaten loads of times. In almost 50 fights and 37 wins...
she as actually never had a single "proper" KO/TKO.
2x Ret (including today)
3x RSC (Ref stopped count)
There is a nuanced discussion in this area. But people are acting like this is prime Mike Tyson as opposed to a boxer who relies on her speed and reach and does not have much power.
That is not how XX/XY/XXY works.
Your partner could be XXY or even XY and you would probably never know! They would probably never know.
Heck YOU could be XXY or XYY and might not know, so could I... or anyone!
Nah, they should had picked a different venue, period. Seine waters are cleaner than they have ever been (thus no one can say 1.4bil was wasted), but 1-2 days of rain ruined their sewage tank approach/limits, because it was an uphill battle to begin with.Maybe they either should have invested a few more euros or um, I don't know, done a better job?

I'm dubious about some of what has been presented as "female" from time to time
You can name that tune in one note!Nah, they should had picked a different venue, period. Seine waters are cleaner than they have ever been (thus no one can say 1.4bil was wasted), but 1-2 days of rain ruined their sewage tank approach/limits, because it was an uphill battle to begin with.
The proper question is whether they had a plan B. I refuse to believe that, given the Seine situation, they did not. Probably it ended up with stubborn ''we CAN do the swim part here, as we promised''.
Did... you see Brittney Griner?
People like rules only when the rules suit their personal agenda. I am not judging the process of changing sex, or those who who feel they do not want a traditional definition. I will draw the line at hand to hand combat for the sake of sport. There has to be a rule that defines the sees, and People have to abide by it, no matter how they self identify.
