Sad as he is one of the more "likeable" comp skaters. (Luan Oliveira is a great guy but not here and does not seem to do contests much anymore... Milou seems chill too, Joslin seems nice... and then Ishod when he still properly skated street is ofc a boss, Kyle Walker)

Lots of the comp skaters are pretty jockish and arrogant... and while the Japanese are not they are kind of, well, a bit boring albeit incredible.

Tury is also super likeable but damn he has an awful style.

Yuto deserved to win... best comp skater in the world. And outside of Tury maybe most likeable guy in the final.

But they were some inflated scores across the board towards the end.
I think all the skaters expect that. It pretty much happens in every judge scored competition in every sport. It's part of the 'human element' that they tend to give lower scores early and give higher scores late. Yuto hit the best trick of the finals, but if he had landed that in his first round He's not getting a 97 for it.

Yeah that 97+ was definitely too high IMO. At the end of the day though, Nyjah only needed a manageable 94+to win Gold and couldnt put it down. Seemed like there was some issues with that edge not having enough wax on it.

Damn surfing being early today means not on live tv as they prefer to show gymnastics and basketball and swimming.

And lmao 2/3 channels showing Olympics in Portugal are showing EXACTLY THE SAME THING right now.

God I did not ever appreciate the BBC until I left the UK. Every sport all for free... (well, your license fee of like 100 dollars per year)

Jagger got stopped from waxing it more it seemed by an official... which is bizarre since everyone seemed to be sticking.

Inaba the person who has came the closest to death at these Olympics in any sport.

Damb. Just had a monster wave close out on him. His surf board got disintegrated on the reef but he was okay.

Toledo has put a helmet on after that happened. Never seen that before.

Toledo not doing himself any favours in terms of the "scared of big waves" stuff after Pipeline earlier this year.

He is one of the best technical surfers in the world and just chickened out on a wave that could have won him the heat with seconds left. Ran away from the deepest part instead of staying in the pipe and got a crap score as a result when needed like a 4.

I love his surfing style but jeez... 2x in a year he seems to have chickened out on a high volume wave.

But tbf can understand valuing life over some points and kudos.

That god Elter did not get through.

Everyone in the third round is capable enough on bigger waves... even if some are not amazing and a biiit scared.

Hopefully it calms down before the womens 3rd round... several of the women (no offense to them, it is fact) will be in actual danger if go for some of these waves.

Well, this is not a good start for Latvia. Jeļena Ostapenko (tennis) got eliminated in first round and beach volley ladies Tīna & Anastasija lost their first group game where they were favourites.

Hopefully tomorrow 3x3 basketball dudes will bring some nice moments vs brothers Lithuanians /nervous laugh/

Should have done some Olympic surfing betting...

lmao the guys at the betting places have no idea model wise. They are accounting for the wrong things.

Boukhaim being 33/1 while Colapinto was 11/1 is hilarious.

Considering that Boukhaim came 3rd THIS YEAR on this wave and Colapinto never gets out of the last 8 on bigger barrels.

Titmus missed out on another gold medal. O'Callaghan won the 200m freestyle.

USA's beach vollebyall duo of Kloth-Nuss have a Crouch-Owen vibe.

Chianca vs Boukhiam was one of the best head to heads I have ever seen...

Sad one has to lose as the best two performances in Olympics short surf history so far.

Unfortunately in the same heat aha. Would have been an amazing final.

With Florence vs Robinson next with these conditions? Might be one of the best hours of competition surfing in a long time

Damn nature not providing lmao.

Best two tube riders in the world and no good waves in basically 30 minutes.

Then as soon as the heat ends an incredible set rolls through.

JJF lost mainly as Robinson got priority.

What a shit show. Everyone know the Seine was biohazard. People haven't swum in it for decades. The run-off from the sewers and old pipes running through Paris. They spent almost 1.5b euros to 'clean it up', but it's still just one heavy rain from being above 'safe levels', which is exactly what has now happened.

All of this could have been avoided by having the Triathlon outside of Paris and using a different river. I think the rowing isn't taking place in the Seine, but outside of Paris... and obviously the surfing is on the other side of the world.

Seems like the current 'plan' is to hope levels drop down enough by tomorrow to have both men & women's triathlon. If it doesn't the last date is August 2 and might end up not having the swimming and just being a duathlon.
