Not sure why so many people can’t comprehend that this isn’t fantasy hockey or an NHL’24 video game.

You absolutely CANNOT continue to give up draft picks and prospects for players in their 30’s with long term deals of $5M to $11M.

That asinine approach is why the Leafs are stuck with washed up TJ Brodie and John Tavares and have ZERO cap room and ZERO draft picks or prospects.

Way too injury prone

interesting take he's played 80 79 and all 62 games this year so in the last 3 season's including this one he's missed 3 games.

in 20-21 he played on 32 of 56 games,

in 19-20 he played 64 of 71

and in the 4 season's he's played in, prior to that, he missed a total of 6 games

where does this injury risk come from?

It could work if they got the blues to take some cap back in certain players and they receive picks. Though not interested in dealing Knies or Cowan. Also, were not the oldest team in the league. We have what 5-6 players over 30 or something. Some are barely over 30. Reeves and Giordano have to be in there upper 30s. Gio is hurt with a concussion and Reeves mostly plays on 4th line. We are definitely not the youngest team but we're close to middle of the pack by age.

What makes it worse, all those prospects and draft picks were wasted for nothing pretty much. 1 fluky series win, and that’s it. Really hurts now.

someone should tell Shanahan this.........

I’m practically begging for this. Have wanted him for a while on our team. The exact type of defenseman this team has needed for more than 20 years. To me, the contract is fine and should be worth it, especially with the cap consistently going up. People need to realize that when you’re getting a player like this, he’s coming to your team now, the dynamic will shift and he will be better with a good partner like Morgan Rielly. Parayko has had shit partners since Bouwmeester 5 years ago. Let’s not forget him and Rielly were a pair at the WCOH in 2016. Would be open to Brodie, Robertson and a 1st for Parayko and a small add (Sundqvist maybe). Please get it done Tre! The time is now.

I have seen a couple of bloggers mention in and a couple of sports jocks speculate about how it could work but nothing with any credibility. Hasn't been asked to waive and only Buchnevich has been mentioned on the Blues board. May as well start a Larsson thread.

Well, in honesty would not mind a Larsson either. Might come cheaper as well.

To me it’s him or bust. He is exactly what this team needs right now.

It doesn’t matter. If Tre can find a way to make it work he has to. He is the EXACT kind of defencemen this team needs ATM. A right handed defensive guy. A perfect partner For Mo.

Larsen in Seattle is a better option, shorter term and still a 1st pairing Dman

Weird because he shoots left but he has played RD in the past, just not recently. Not old and he only cost the Caps a 3rd and a 7th. He is playing 16:00 minutes a night so I don't think they will ask what they gave the Habs when he was a top 4 player. For that alone I want him more than Savard or Jensen and he hits more than those two combined.

Cheaper option but please play him on left side and get rh defenseman who fits the spot. It's hard enough for the players to adjust to new team.

What is the list of injuries he gas suffered?

It's not so much the list of injures but the seriousness of the injury, reading St Lou boards they are saying that since his back injury in 2021 he has not been the same elite two way defender. I never really though of him as a two way defender, more a big body that plays top matchups really well.
